I'd rather shave my lower regions with a dull rusty pair of Bauers than root for the Ducks.

That is another Orange County/Dizzyland abomination.

The Pond/Honda Center/Iceland or whatever they are calling the arena this year is a neat spiffy venue anyway!

Been a Penguins fan from way back! Went to Pitt for a few semesters (before I decided I didn't know what the heck I was doing in college at that point...) and loved watching the games. We were one of the few apartments that paid for cable, so we'd charge admission for the games, and that would cover the expense for the refreshments, lol. Fun days back in 1990 and 1991.

Good team. IMHO, Lemieux was the greatest ever. Gretzky had it easy, when the game was played differently.

Oh man was he fun to watch.  I don't think that anyone has ever playing the game quite like Lemieux.  Although, Crosby lives with Lemieux during the season, and gets a lot of one-on-one...maybe a little Lemieux will rub off on him

When you put it THAT way... I'd rather root for the Ducks.

As for the Arena... It IS Ka-la-forn-ee-a, right? "Land of the easily amused"? LOL

NOTHING could get me to root for the Ducks-nothing. It's all a Disney plot to take over the sports world.

ANyway, I am still recovering from Marty McSorley's crooked stick. ACK!

We do have some great arenas here. I do like the Honda/Pond/Anaheim/whoever paid for the name arena, Concerts are good there, rodeos and roller hockey, when they had a team.

I loved the Inglewood Forum, saw tons of stuff there. THat was the Kings old home. Haven't been to the Staples Center tho.....to expensive and parking is 20 bucks off the top!

IT's anyway you want to pronounce it! Cah Lee Fuh Nee Ah is my governor's way to do it! and yes, we are easily amused!

He got a slow start. Big deal. He looked pretty good last night. I think he just needs me to come to all the games to support him....

    Ouchie....

So of course, some critics are now bringing up the notion that hitting needs to be removed from the game.

This play was a clean hit, period. The idea of checking in hockey is to take the puck carrier off the puck. It is not Weight's fault that Sutter had his head down at the last second there. Weight did not jump, lift his elbow or do anything illegal. In fact, it almost seems to me that he realized what was going to happen at the last second, when Sutter put his head down. If you wathc the whole video, I think Weight felt sorry for the kid... But what are ya gonna do? We learn from the first day we are taught the contact part of the game to keep your head UP. ESPECIALLY in the neutral zone.

Lets hope Sutter makes a good recovery and learns his lesson.

I watched the clip before I read the rest of your reply, but everything you said is what I was thinking while watching. It was a clean hit, and though I've never played hockey I've heard my boyfriend say it enough to know...you're supposed to keep your head up through the neutral zone.
I hope it looked worse than it was and I too hope he makes a speedy recovery.

SO far this year I have seen two of the side panels get broken. I think one was at a Ducks games the other was at the Kings game this week.
Yep, hitting is part of the game and people should have their heads up display on. Weight could have been looking a little forward to see that Bettman is going to do when he gets the video of the hit.

When some takes a hit or delivers a hit like that it is part of the game, but you can line someone up and take them out of the play, not their skates.

When you have players over 6 foot and 200-210 lbs on the ice playing against forwards who are giving up a few pounds and inches, it's just a matter of time before another player gets really hurt and I mean career ending hurt.

Hitting is part of the game but the giver has to take responsibility for the hits, too.
