Heidi (our lil Min Pin Buddie) *doesn't* need a New Home

GOODER NEWS on the June 17, 2007 Post ... She's gonna Stay at HOME!
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------

I HATE phone calls like that!
Heidi's Mom (a good friend & wifey of a good buddy FireFighter) called to ask for
Help finding Heidi a "better" home than they're giving her ...

Mom runs an in-home business (medical billing) that keeps her busy all day, with
frequent trips out to meet clients. Hubby works long hours, likes to hunt and 4-wheels.
Two young-adult boys both work and *hunt girls* - never home except to sleep!
Teenager Daughter plays softball (VERY well) and consumes everyone's "spare time"
    with thrice-weekly 100 mile semi-pro softball trips and all-weekend game trips ...
Poor Heidi is spending more and more time Alone at home!

Heidi is a "papered" Min Pin (Miniature Pinscher), spayed, in good health,
    "reasonably" well behaved and very friendly to 2-Leggers, Dawgs, and Kats;
6 years old (born 10/9/99), and with her family for about 5 years.
She lives with a couple Howze Kats; and gets along well with her HUGE all-white
German Shepherd "brother Amos" - you've all seen him - he's the "Watch Dawg"
we've looked in on a few times when the family goes on trips.
She's crate "tolerant", but is crated too often due to her having *pee problems*
when left alone to roam the house. Mom feels very badly about having to
crate her so often these days.
She doesn't chew stuff, doesn't *bark* non-stop like many lil mutts do,
    and *LUVS* a good lap!

Heidi has spent many days & nights here at da Ranch when the family has taken
trips ... She does WELL with the Three Amigos AND da Kat!
She behaves in da Bus, walks well on a leash, and "sorta comes" when called.
Mom resorted to a tie-out because Heidi has taken an occasional "hike in da woods"
for longer than Mom can suffer through ... I never had too many "lost dawg" issues
with her ... but she HAS "disappeared" while in my care & custody more than once.

Now ... before ANYone "starts" ...
NO! Phred does NOT need nor want anudder Mutt!!
    (KAT seez "Ditto - we'z Full-UP!")
    I started off as a WUN-Dawg and WUN-Kat guy ...
CINDER decided to Keep SmokeMutt ...
And I sill haven't figured out why the THIRD FurrBall Mutt is here -
sleeping on my feetz as I type this!

    Soooo ... we're open to Offers ...
    Heidi needs a "better" Home!

That's really sad, she's a cute girl! I hope she finds a new home. I don't understand, though, why they have time for Amos but not Heidi?

I guess Amos is more "self maintaining" ...
    * He lives inside/outside - beds in two garages
    * House privilages (limited rooms) IF his "Dad" is home (and he isn't too grubby)
    * Wears a Zapper Collar on an Invisible Fence with about 2 acres to run
    * Wouldn't harm a flea, but scares the krap out of people who don't belong there
    * Amos makes due with a *pat onna head* as family comes & goes

Heidi requires a bit more "attention".

Aww, Phred how I wish I could help out. I actually knew of someone looking for another small dog to add to her household of two small dogs and a cat; however, she called me at 10:30 Saturday morning to say that she had adopted a rescued dog (well, puppy really). I wish our lifestyle could allow for two dogs, she is a sweetie. good luck to you. I hope Heidi finds an excellent home.

Aww I feel bad for Heidi. It's sad when a family "outgrows" a dog.
She's a pretty girl. Do they have any Rescue groups for Min Pin's? She'd
be great with a family/person with more time for her. Good luck Heidi.

Heidi might get lonesome at the Fire House ~
We're all on-call Volunteers - no one stays in the Station between calls.

Years ago, my (RB ) Husky/Shepherd Shadow came closest to being our
"Mascot" - she spent MANY hours in the office while I was out on calls.
She even "bunked in" for 3 days once while I was on a FD business trip! She
had a bunch of the Fire Guys "looking in" on her every few hours - feeding, walking,
and entertaining - while I was gone. She seemed to have a *phunn tyme*!

I really hope I can find a "better" Home for Heidi ... before ...
