*Update* Frisk could use some good thoughts.

My little guy seems to be hitting a rough time.
A few weeks ago he began peeing the bed at night, so off to the vet we went. He was diagnosed with incontinence, and was put on Proin. It took about a week until it seemed to "kick in", and all was fine.

    Until this past Sunday.

He has been tired a lot, we have noticed he has lost a bit of weight, and his eyes have been really goopy lately. He gets these huge eye-boogers frequently throughout the day. One night he was kind-of moaning in his sleep and that day he hadn't ate much, so the next day he went to the vet again. That was yesterday. The vet thinks he has an upset stomach and prescribed some meds (Metclop? I am not sure.. I can't read his handwriting very well).

Yesterday he was pretty bad. He hardly opened his eyes and just wanted to sleep. When we tried to give him his meds he would regurgitate them immediately afterwards. Today is a bit better. To my knowledge he has kept down his medicine but still isn't great.

Basically, if he gets worse, or if he isn't better by the end of the week he will be off to the vets again for some blood tests. I am so scared something worse might be going on. This dog means everything to me. It kills me inside to see him not being himself. I just want him back to normal.

Thanks for listening. I really needed to get that off my back, as it has really been bothering me.

    Just a quick update...

Last night Frisk puked in my bed 3 times and then 2 more times after he got up, all of it being that icky tar-like kind. Mum is taking him in to the vets again today when they open (in around an hour). Hopefully I come home to a firm answer as to what is going on.

Thanks a bunch for the well wishes.

    Thanks a bunch.

Mum took him to the vet and they wanted to keep him overnight on an IV, as he seemed dehydrated. They took the blood test today and we will find out what it reports tomorrow. Coming home and not being greeted by my bestest buddy was really hard. I have been crying off an on since I have gotten home. My sister called not too long ago and they said he was doing fine, which is good to hear.

If you don't mind, keep on keeping him in your thoughts. Its really appreciated.

I'm sorry I didn't see that thread earlier. I don't really stick around Dog Health much. I am so glad Frisk is now a bit better, that's great news. It looks like being with you helped alot.

Poor Frisk - having a rough time - aren't you boy???
How old is Frisk? I had 2 diabetic Lhasas - both diagnosed when they were about 10 years old - and both did well on insulin for another 5 years after that!
Hope things are looking up and that Frisk is feeling better and home soon!

Frisk will be eight years old at the end of this month.. so fairly close to the age when your Lhasas were diagnosed. Its wonderful to hear diabetic dogs can still lead a long life!

I forgot to link to the new thread, which is here. He is home now and feeling quite a bit better. Still not back to his old self, but he's getting there! :-)

Thanks, again, for the well wishes. They are very appreciated!

I just saw this thread. Best wishes for Frisk.Diabetes can be managed easily enough,But it does take commitment from the family. When I read your first post I thought about diabetes. I am surprised your vet did not pick it up sooner.Frisk will probally need insulin shots and a strict diet. Watch for any change in normal activity, it could mean his glucose is high or low and needs to be checked.I hope he gets to come home soon.good luck and keep us posted. katslady
