Dogs In Back Of Owner's Stolen Pickup

DENVER -- Four border collie dogs that had competed Friday and Saturday at the Western Stock Show were stolen Sunday along with the pickup truck they were in at the time, their owners said.

Jim and Patti Chant said their four dogs were in two metal dog carriers in the bed of their 2003 Ford F350 when it was stolen from the Ramada Plaza Convention Center in Northglenn near Interstate 25.

The dogs, two male and two female, all have collars with the Chants' contact information on them.

Jim Chant is the superintendent of Northwest Stock Show Cattledog Herding Competition.

Jim and Patti Chant said they are worried about what the thieves will do to the dogs, though they hope they will show up in an animal shelter.

Anyone with information about the stolen vehicle or the dogs is asked to contact authorities.

    URGENT! Stolen Dogs

Sunday, January 21st, 2007 our dark gray Ford F350 PU Dualley, 2003 was stolen from the Ramada Plaza Convention Center at Northglenn, CO off I-25. In the bed of the pickup were 2 metal dog carriers with our 4 border collie dogs in them. My husband, Jim Chant was the superintendent of the NWSS cattle dog competition held in the stock yards on Friday & Saturday 1/19 & 1/20 and we also competed with our 4 dogs.

The dogs are irreplaceable to us. Of course we have no idea what they will do with our dogs. Our dogs all have collars with our name, address, and phone number on them. They are shown in the pictures below. There are 2 male dogs, Trigger & Ben, and 2 female dogs, Dixie & Dot. Dot is in heat. Our contact information is: Jim & Patti Chant, cell phone 307-380-8130 that we have here in Denver with us. Our home phone is: 307-383-2256 Baggs, WY., email: [email protected].

Please, if your dog is arthritic look into getting it Elk Velvet Antler. Look up my posts on it, PM me, or look it up on a search engine; but please if you love your dog and want it to live many more years consider this option. I've seen so many posts on here about dogs needlessly suffering. I can't make a new post about EVA every time so this plea is going here. EVA also helps with other ailments such as anemia.

    Show Dogs, Pickup Recovered
Wyoming Owners Reunited With Border Collies

AURORA, Colo. -- There was a happy reunion overnight for a Wyoming couple who had their pickup stolen along with their four border collies.

The show dogs were in crates in the back of a pickup owned by Jim and Patti Chant when it was stolen from a parking lot format the Ramada Plaza Convention Center in Northglenn on Sunday. The dogs had competed Friday and Saturday at the Western Stock Show.

Jim Chant is the superintendent of Northwest Stock Show Cattledog Herding Competition.

Officers from the Aurora Police pattern crime unit were on patrol, looking for stolen vehicles, when they recognized the truck in a hotel parking lot near the airport Monday night.

"I had a lot of doubts iI would never see them again. It was just so frightening," said owner Patti Chant. "I'm just so happy. It's just so hard to believe,"

Despite being hungry and cold, the dogs were not injured. Police said they believe media attention to the case forced the thieves to abandon the truck and the animals.
