    Fister in the box

Some of you may remember how difficult it was for us to get Fister in the carrier when we had to take him to the vet. You can read about it in a thread started by Niina here

The state of mind we're in when he has to go somewhere, is best descibed by tuxluvr
Whenever I see the word "cat carrier" I'm the one who gets nervous - this is more trauma than I like to think about...
However, what AmberLee suggested has almost proven to work. Since Fister came back we haven't taken the carrier back to the cellar, but left it out - and guess what! he went in, all by himself!!

    Here's some pics

On the first one, he seems to think: What have I got into??

... and the second one: Do i dare relax

... the last one: Might as well have nap here!

Awww, Randi, cute pics! Our box is also out, in the corner of our livingroom and they coulnd't care less about it anymore. So they don't know it's a "bad" thing when we lift it in the middle of the floor. They go and sniff it and we catch them and in they go and off to the vet.

Anyway, I like the last pic, sound asleep, cute, cute, CUTE!!!!

Wonderful pics. Randi - Fister is such a sweetheart!! Bless him.
Good idea re: the 'porta prison' might give it a go here.

My cat carrier has a door that opens on the front. I just leave it open and they take turns sleeping in it. Well, all of them take turns except Leroy. Luke was sleeping in there one day and Leroy decided he wanted to sleep in it so he politely crawled in with Luke. It's a one cat carrier so it was a snug fit. He made it though and they slept in there together for about 30 minutes. Luke finally have enough togetherness and pried himself out. They are not tiny cats. Leroy weighs in at 15 pounds and Luke at 13. They filled it up.

I like the picture of Fister sleeping too. What a sweetie.

The box is now in the "office" and we have our suspicions that he is actually sleeping in it part of the night!

Btw, on the picture where he is sound asleep, you can see how fat he is. It came suddenly while he was on medication. My friend who is a nurse told us the reason for that: He got Prednosolon (I think they were called) for 10 days, which contains Binyrebarkhormon (sorry, don't know the word in english right now) and that's the reason. He is back to normal again!

Tatty went to the vets so much last year that anytime he see's a carrier he runs away, even though it might not be for him.

    Poor cat!

Isn't Fister just a sleeping beauty? What an angel!

What I do with Scary Kat Rudie, who is terrified of carriers: I throw a dark towl over his body, he relaxes because he has no idea what goes on, and place him in his carrier. It works very well.

Our carrier is out all the time too, also because it looks very nice. I've shown you this picture before:

Oh, Randi, those pictures are great. I love your pictures of him, he always looks stunning!!! But I also like them because, for me, he always seems to be on top of things.... oh well, I don't know if I'm explainin myself... I think he looks soooo sweet but also careless in a way - just like dandies use to do in the old good films - as if everything belonged to him!!!! Anyway, I'm sure it does

Now seriously, Fister looks so happy in all the pictures you post here, Randi!! It's a joy seeing him!

I think CC's mom is on to something - a "nice" looking carrier. I know now that Ritzy gets upset even if I open the door to the room where the carrier is stored (also the room where we keep the Evil Hoover). I'm thinking I need to get a different cat carrier...

Ritzy's next annual visit isn't until November - barring emergencies. I already dread it.
