    Canon A520 camera help.

I know some PTers must have this camera. Its the one I got Ashley for Christmas and I've been using it for the past two weeks.... and I'm honestly a bit disappointed in the photo quality. It takes miserable indoor shots. Everything is washed out and grainy. Is there perhaps a setting thats better for indoor? I also notice the colors are not true to life. Everything takes on a amber coloring.

I'm not going to put a lot of time into figuring out this camera. I'll be getting a new one shortly (hopefully around September) so this is just something to borrow in the meantime.

If anyone has any tips for getting better image quality, please let em know! Thanks!!!

Eaxamples of photos straight from the camera withotu editing (except resizxing but that doesn't count). My Nikon never gave me photos this washed out and bland looking. I often thought they came off the camera dark, but I was always able to lighten everything perfectly. These aren't even able to be edited properly... the baby's face almost always turns out looking red and the contrast looks way off.

    Washed out:

    Hazy looking:

(ignore the fact that our steps need a vaccuuming real bad!)

Hazy, washed out and blurry (the deadly trio! )

comparison of the Canon vs my Nikon camera. See the difference?

    Check picture quality settings.
Check resolution setting (higher the better but it will take up more memory)

Like anything electronic, some manufactures make better cameras. It just might be the case that this Canon is not as good as Nikon.

I AGREE... CANON'S ARE GENERALLY AWESOME. I WOULD CHECK YOUR MENU SETTINGS AND MAKE SURE YOU ARE SET TO HIGH (USUALLY A H, M AND LOW SETTINGS CHOICE). ALSO CHECK YOUR WHITE BALANCE SETTING. INDOORS SHOULD BE SET TO INCANDESCENT (USUALLY A LIGHTBULB GRAPHICS ICON).
