Mac and Ozzy turn 3 today! They were just a few days shy of their first birthday when they arrived at our home, after spending 8 months in the shelter. Timid, shy and sickly dogs. They survived parvo as very young puppies and their musher decided to dump them as she was convinced their hearts were damaged by the disease. The stress of the shelter was slowing killing them. I told the shelter staff that I would take them, but I was going to work them. If their hearts were damaged, at least they would die happy and loved, instead of terrified!
Their first night with us.
I didn't see them sleep for at least three days. They ran in circles, played and ran some more. No sign of heart damage!
Ozzy, taken a couple weeks ago.
Pretty boy Mac surveying his territory.
Mac hard at play with his very good friend, Daisy! No sign of heart troubles!
Mac training to be a lead dog with Pingo. He has such potential up front. He's just a little young still and somedays he can't focus.
Ozzy can't lead, but he loves to pull! Between them they ran well over 1000km this past winter and never missed a stride.
They are completely different dogs than that scared duo that first arrived. Ozzy. Ozzy is a suck and loves to try and curl up in my lap. He still barks incessantly at people he doesn't know. He's the best watch dog we have! Mac is determined he will be a house dog. He likes to sleep right beside my bed and is learning that no matter what Boots(the cat) does to him, he is not allowed to respond! Boots loves Mac, crazy cat!
Happy Birthday my special boys!
