I think you can give them something in their food. I don't remember what it is, but it makes their poop taste really bad so they won't eat it.

Me as well, Tucker does it. I think there's a product called ForBid, or something similar to that, my spelling may not be correct. I need to order some and try it.

I have heard that you can sprinkle a little meat tenderizer powder on their food, and it will turn their poop bitter, so that it doesn't appeal to them. I have also heard that it is because they aren't getting the nutrients they need out of the food, and so the body craves poop (ewww!) to try and get the nutrients the second time around. And a way to solve that would be to change foods, or try the equivalent of vitamin supplements or something like that.
We feed Iams only because the only store in town is Wal Mart. I think the other food is Purina, and that's probably about the same in quality.

It is a common thing, not at all rare. We have had many threads on this in the past, it's called copraphagia.
Here's an old thread with a good explanation and discussion.
thank you Karen

I agree about the food quality. Make sure he is on a high quality kibble, it may be a number of things, but I've heard of tons of dogs stopping this after being switched to a more nutritious diet. Same with dogs who eat dirt or plants and whatnot, it can often be linked to them knowing they're missing out on something.
I hope you can solve this, anyway! I would definitely rather try a higher quality food than start adding stuff to his kibble right away. Thank GOD Fozzie doesn't do that... I really pity those of you who do have poop-eaters, their breath must be very interesting. =P
