I'm sure you probably heard this, but the Saguaro doesn't get it's first "arm" until it is at least 100 years old! So that one you found must have really been ancient! If only it could talk. We have a friend who lives around Phoenix and he said that if they are going to build anything - strip malls, etc. - the contractors have to actually dig up and relocate any saguaros that are on the property. It's not good enough for them to cut them down and plant others somewhere else to replace them because they grow so slowly that if the old ones were cut down it would be forever before they got as big again as the one in your picture.

When I see a Saguaro, that tells me that I am really in the wild, wild West.
