I read that a few months ago - loved it!!

Just finished The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks by Rebecca Skloot. Started it on Saturday - finished on Sunday. Could not put it down.

Her name was Henrietta Lacks, but scientists know her as HeLa. She was a poor Southern tobacco farmer who worked the same land as her slave ancestors, yet her cells--taken without her knowledge--became one of the most important tools in medicine. The first "immortal" human cells grown in culture, they are still alive today, though she has been dead for more than sixty years. If you could pile all HeLa cells ever grown onto a scale, they'd weigh more than 50 million metric tons--as much as a hundred Empire State Buildings. HeLa cells were vital for developing the polio vaccine; uncovered secrets of cancer, viruses, and the atom bomb's effects; helped lead to important advances like in vitro fertilization, cloning, and gene mapping; and have been bought and sold by the billions.

Currently reading, "The Given Day" by Dennis Lehane. MOST EXCELLENT!!

His writing is so vivid that I feel like I'm watching it unfold in my mind as I'm reading. Takes place in one of my favorite time periods, around the turn of the century just after the end of WWI, in Boston.

I'm reading Out Stealing Horses by Norwegian author Per Petterson. It's about a retiree who relives the turmoil and grief and beauty of his youth during a night's walk.

I'm about halfway through now. A STUNNING book, beautifully written.

I just checked out "The Given Day" from the library a few days ago! I thought I had read all of his books - this one sounds a bit different but I also agree that his writing is very good!! I will get started on it in a few days

I'm currently recording my reading of The Black Stallion just because, and I'm also re-reading one of my favourite books from school, The Bean Trees. I really love it.

I'm also reading quite a lot of fanfiction, mostly Doctor Who. It never gets old because there are so many different versions of the Doctor and so many companions to play with. Now if I could only get myself to start writing again, I've got several unfinished stories just sitting around.

The Death and Life of Charlie St.Cloud

Truthfully one of the best books I've ever read! I couldn't put it down. I finished it in 3 days, which is amazing since I don't have time to do anything anymore.

"How to Win Friends and Influence People" by Dale Carnegie. My grandfather gave me the book to help me throughout life before he passed away two years ago... decided to start reading it the other day. VERY good book! Don't know why I didn't start earlier.

I'm sorry - I missed this post the first time, yes I did read that one and really enjoyed it much more than Raven Stole the Moon. I kept thinking all thru Raven Stole the Moon, I'm going to quit reading this. But I was almost done with it so I decided to suck it up!
Right now I'm reading RELENTLESS by Dean Koontz! very good!
