I believe one should be able to attend a dance with the date of one's choice, regardless of gender. I think one should be able to wear tasteful clothing to said, regardless whether it is a dress or slacks. I think the fact that this is even occurring in 2010 is pathetic.

I wore a pair of holey Chuck Taylors to my prom. It was horrible and I left early. She should have just stayed home with her girlfriend, it probably would have been more fun.

I agree with you completely, Twisterdog.

I laughed this morning because of one educator at a secondary school.....

A dad heard about a really cruel teacher that was posting lists of kids who had failed to keep up in their classes.

The lists were there to remind them that theyt were excluded from any field trips, dances and other extracurricular activities because of their grades.

The father heard about the list, went on campus and took a picture of the paper and began to complain that it was damaging to his daughter and her 'pride'.

The father had NO PROBLEM crying about his daughter's ego-but said nothing about his lazy spawn being a fracking failure in her studies. Gotta tell you...

I would have been PUMMELED and I would have been told that IF I DID NOT GET MY GRADES OUT OF THE "EPIC FAIL" zone?

    MY mom would have..

    Yelled at me.
Yelled at me for making her HAVE TO GO TO THE SCHOOL FOR MY FAILURE.
    Yelled at me some more.

(I know I am not supposed to use this letter, but it gets the point across...)

She would have EFFED my world up to the point where I would have seriously thought about AutoEuthanasia-that or moving to the moon....

    LOL,
I hope the world does end in 2012.

Growing up, I always felt very privileged about the world that I grew up in and wondered about the kids that followed. I didn't want to leave the planet in a wasted way or messed up for them.

    Now?

Frack them and Frack the idiotic parents who refuse to put boundaries on THEIR kid's behavior. The funniest part is the mothers and fathers who want to be friends, as opposed to parents to their nasty, rude, crude and ill mannered offspring.

NOT ALL KIDS AND PARENTS are that way. Let's just say that if you are curious about the shoe fitting? Put them on and start walking.

    ---------------------

    Both my parents are gone.

But, I still fear the prospect of screwing up royally and them finding out about it.

    LOL,

    I fear dead people.

    ------------

IT's all fun and games, until your spawn gets cut out of the school dance/graduation/prom because of some other dillweed's rights.

    Then it's war.

    LOLOLOLOLOLOL,

My parents taught me that the first rule of life is T.S.

    The second?

    More T.S.

    The third?

Find a way to overcome the problem, work around it and find a happy medium.

Step on toes? You may have to pass that way again, later on.

I absolutely applaud this girl's desire to attend her prom as herself and nothing more. I certainly hope that her appearance on Ellen will make the school's administration stand up and take notice that, as Twisterdog said, in 2010 an incident like this is pathetic.

Congratulations Constance, I totally stand behind you!

There was a court case today and the powers-that-be put it on the calendar. THat means the prom date will have come and gone before the case goes to court.

Looks like no one is going to prom.

Really ???? What a shame for all of those good folk who are now to miss out on that.
Never mind mate.....I'm waiting for the day I can get to wear that monkey suit I have in the closet, to the next formal function I'll be invited to.
Not that I like wearing monkey suits. But I need to assert myself to the community at large, and make a statement, that I have the RIGHT to wear a monkey suit.
You never know....hey ??? I might get a check off of Ellen Degenrate to !!!

Rather than make an issue over her date , SHE COULD HAVE DONE LIKE STAGS HAVE DONE FOR YEARS, Just go with your friend and enjoy the prom. In the past if a boy or girl did not have a date they just showed up with a friend, and in most cases it was a friend of the same sex. In this case she wanted the
    attention that she got.
