Is this different from the one near Samoa? I heard about a 8.0 quake last night on the news, they had tsunami warnings for the Oregon coast. Nothing huge but enough to warn people not to go to the beach!

Yes, Samoa is in the mid Pacific, Indonesia is farther west below the country of Viet Nam.
