    First Newfie in the NHL
Not the first to play - but the first to have his name engraved on Lord Stanley's Cup.

OH, Do I sense a little bravado!

One more Pens win, Best of three - and two overtime games.

And a partridge in a pear tree!

I was referring to last year - 2008 - when the Wings won and Dan Cleary became the first Newfie to have his name engraved. The whole population of Newfoundland turned out when he brought the cup "home" with him.

You could hire a private security guard

Comparing the pictures - your cup is quite a bit smaller, also. Does it overflow frequently?

ABSOLUTELY!! He'd be perfect - wouldn't take any cr*p from anyone!! And he'd be a lot cheaper, also. Couple of cans of his favorite food and he'd be good to go.

Dan is from Harbour Grace, population 3,074 in 2006. Population for Newfoundland in 2006 was just under 500,000. Wouldn't surprise me if most all of them didn't get at least a glimpse of it.

Our local Fox Sports channel, which broadcasts the Wings games, had a special on Dan and his trip home with the cup. It was quite the celebration up there.

Doh! My bad. Looking at the list of players from Newfoundland, its a big list. I did not know that Micheal Ryder was from St. Johns... Ya learn something new everyday.

    Thanks Grace.
