I think about this child nearly every day. She is such a trooper.
I hope she is doing nicely - I am sure she is....
Has anyone heard anything? I bet she is getting to be quite the young lady!![]()

Happy Autumn!

Hard to believe it's been 6 months!
Sam's doing well, and had a great summer, between horseback riding, playing in her pool
and sandbox, and working hard in therapy on her new legs. She's also having fun at school,
and enjoying her 2nd year of PreK. She spends time on her legs every day,
and is getting around really well.
Her 2nd session w/the horses starts up in a couple of weeks; she loves it,
and is constantly practicing her horse commands on me..."whoa" and "walk."
She's been to Children's a couple times, and on our next visit in December,
her nephrologist will do a more detailed test (it's been done once before)
to get a more accurate look at her renal function. Her labs last month showed some changes,
though not extreme ones, so we'll see.
Overall, she's feeling great and looking forward to Halloween next week.
Hope everyone enjoyed the summer--time to gear up for the holiday season now!
Thanks,
Jessica

Oh dear Phred: I'm so ashamed.I've been so wrapped up in my own daily stresses that I have not thought of dear Sam in a long time. Sweet Sam, please forgive me. LES.
With all that you've been through you're shining smile still gives us so much inspiration. I can't believe that you are going to be six years old. So glad to see that you are getting around nicely and enjoying school. Pretty soon you'll be entering grade 1 and that bring more "phun" stuff and new friends to meet. Keep practicing that horsie lingo. Who knows, one day you may end up visiting NM and Mz Mare's Mom.
Thank you Sas for resurrecting this thread and reminding us all that life is really not so bad after all.
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, champagne in one hand and strawberries in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and screaming WOO HOO - What a Ride!

Until one has loved an animal, part of their soul remains unawakened.
I once printed the thread (while at work, with a laser printer) and read it from post #1 .... probably 20 some pages worth. It is hard to believe this child and her family made this journey and had a rather positive outcome.
I remember crying while reading some of the earlier posts about the operations and day-to-day troubles. Gosh.
And we complain about little things.... You are right Slick, it is good to be reminded how fortunate many of us are....and life has been good to us, all things considered.
Oh, to be six again.
How ironical that SAS bumped this thread up today! Today is Sam's mother's birthday.![]()
We will visit with Sam this weekend, in a joint celebration of their two birthdays. From what I hear, Sam's focus this week is deciding which balloons to bring to the festivities. I will try super hard to get some more recent snappies of her, maybe throwing one in of her parents, too. They are a bit 'elusive'! LOL.
