Prayers for Luke please - gone to the Rainbow Bridge

Luke has not been feeling well for a while now and has been in and out of the vet's for the past month. He was doing better but not great. They checked him again today and said he is in the beginning stages of cronic renal failure.

They gave him a med called Azodyl to take and we get to start the dreaded sub q fluids Sunday. Well, they gave him some at the vet today but I am to give it to him every other day then take him in for a recheck on Friday. Hopefully, then it will only be needed once a week or so. One of the vet techs will come and help me the first time.

Plus, they gave us some of the k/d food which he hates. I am allowed to mix it with people tuna if needed.

Luke is 15 years and 5 mo old.

He would appreciate your prayers and so will I.
    Please pray for us both.

My thoughts are with Luke. Barbara's Filou has lived with chronic renal problems (and the weekly sub-q) for a number of years. I saw him last month and you would never guess there is anything amiss.

    So...keep the faith!

I will definitely keep Luke in my thoughts. My Taz is on the k/d food as well. He eats it pretty good, which was suprising to me. Although, he didn't like it with tuna mixed in it.
Our goal in life should be - to be as good a person as our dog thinks we are.

Thank you for the siggy, Michelle!

My Puddy was in CRF for approximately 6 years or so. In the beginning, she was on subQ's every day, then every other day, etc. and she had only one kidney and did great for years. Luke is 15 and just now developing CRF, so I think that once you get the subQ's started, he'll do great, too. They may be dreaded, as you say, right now, but that will change. It'll become routine to you and Luke and you won't even think twice about it. It'll just be part of your day. And, believe it or not, Puddy liked the canned KD, even the dry, too, though not as much. We'll keep the prayers going for all our PT kitties and Luke is right there on the list. Keep the faythe.
    Blessings,
    Mary

    Update

I sent Luke to the hospital for the weekend this morning.
The fluids from yesterday didn't do a thing for him and he's not eating at all now. His vet said he may need fluids more often for a few days. I decided it would be best for him if he was there where someone who knew what they were doing could keep an eye on him.

She said he won't be alone since they have other kitties there too. Plus she and her husband will be there even on Sunday because they are putting in more shelves and stuff. So, luke will have plenty of co.

I can tell he is suffering so he needs to be there right now. I sure miss him though. He said tell everyone thanks for the prayers and positive thoughts and please keep them coming.
    I thank you too!

Luke, you look just so lovable and handsome! With some lovin's and company on the weekend, and some intensive care, you will be feeling better soon!

Healing thoughts for you and Luke. The right meds and diet can make all the difference and give him a good quality of life for some time to come.

Keep the faith - Luke will be fine once he gets over the initial stages. Give that gorgeous boy lots of hugs and kisses for me

Prayers for your sweet Luke that he will get over this rough patch and be back home feeling much better. And more prayers for him to be sharing many years to come with you.
