    Nope, not a Golden.
    A Fox Red Labrador Retriever.

    Fox Red is considered just a dark shade of yellow in the Labrador.
    It is how Labs used to be back in the day, until someone got it in their head that Labs should be more yellow. At least that's the history I've found online.

    That is how it seems with the redder golden retrievers too. You look back at the goldens from years ago and they were more red and "setter-like" in appearance. Now the preferred is more blonde, shorter and blockier.

    Anyway I must say, Chance is absolutely adorable. Warmest congratulations!

    Thank you everyone, he is a real cutie pie. But what a howler!!! If he can't see you its noise all around.

    The kittens have come right up to him this morning. He was nose to nose with Cali for a brief moment before she decided that was enough. It appears the shock is over for the kitties.

    Finn was considered a fox red, too...although not nearly as red as Chance. I prefer the darker yellows, although they're all pretty! Such a cute puppy!
