Sam continues to do well, and had a good visit yesterday at Children's;
she won't go back until next month.
Her final scab finally fell off in the tub a few days ago,
so she was also fitted w/her "pressure pants."
She doesn't seem to mind the suit very much.
She's all over the place now, and likes her home therapy sessions w/Mom
--
she's constantly flipping over on her belly and saying, "good stretch!"
She does the same in the tub, and enjoys pretending to swim from one end to the other.
She has a little cold, but it's not affecting her too much,
and she continues to eat and drink well.
She's also had some success on the potty seat a few times.
She may start antibiotics soon, just as a precaution, even though her immunology testing didn't show anything;
her kidney doc also added a few meds --
mostly vitamin supplements, like calcium.
She's getting out and about regularly, to the library and coffee shop,
and we're hoping she can rejoin her preschool friends, at least part-time, in the near future.
Have a great weekend,
Jessica

Sammy, I am so happy for you and your family. I hope your progress will be unlimited and you sail through the next surgery on your hand.
You seem to know that you are loved by many.
We are all cheering for your speedy recovery and success.

I was close to missing these adorable pics of our Sammy! What a pretty girl she is and what a strong girl she is!
No adult would look that happy and mischievous after a year like hers.
I'm so glad she's having fun - Sammy, you rock!!!!!!!
Kissies to you![]()
Valentine's Day, February 14, 2006 at 07:02 AM EST
Yesterday was Sam's first afternoon back at preschool;
she had a great time!
She also enjoyed a Valentine's Day/American Girl Tea party at the library on Saturday,
and a playdate with her pal Jillian the day before
--
she's been very busy!
It's so wonderful to see her back to her usual self.
I also wanted to point out an article in last Sunday's Enquirer,
for anyone who didn't see it or lives out of the area:
a boy named Dustin was profiled;
he's a high school wrestler who survived meningococcemia in '94,
and lost all his limbs. He lives in Hillsboro, not far from us.
It's a wonderful article, and can be accessed via the paper's website: www.cincinnatienquirer.com (Sunday, 2/12/06). It's in the sports section.
We head back to Lexington late next week;
thanks, as always, for prayers and support.
Happy Valentine's Day!

Here are a couple of the Cinci Inquirer articles about Dustin Carter -
the 16 yo high school Wrestler who lost his limbs to a rare blood infection known as meningococcemia, which is from the same bacteria that causes a severe form of meningitis.
