I am so sorry you are having problems with your mother. It is always hard for non-pet lovers to understand where we are coming from but like you, I would rather live in my car than give them up. She may never accept your decision, but she will always love you. That's what family is for--being pain in the butts but loving us/them regardless.

Wow, Kelly, it really sounds like things are going in the right direction for you. You sound so level-headed, and, ready. I'm sorry that your mom is having such a rough time, but, I think you are handling it the best possible way. I'm so glad for you that you have someone like CiCi in your life to help you through this. Things sound like they're really turning in the right direction. I'm sure your mom wishes you'd be back home where she could take care of you, some mothers have an easier time than others with the whole child-becoming-independent-adult thing. And moving in with CiCi - did you tell this makes her pretty much a Pet Talk family member - does she know what she's getting herself in to? - isn;t you losing your independence, it is you making a positive step to ensure your continued independence. And CiCi has the gratitude of all of Pet Talk, and will, as a bonus, have the oh-so-fashion-necessary cat hairs added to her home as well! Good for you.
