    Uppydate on Me

First, I need to thank you all for your continued support and prayers. Lately, I've been telling myself that while my life has been a rollarcoaster, God has indeed blessed me with the family I'd have chosen if given the chance. (((((hugs to you all)))))

Long story short, due to the financial implications of my illness, I'm being forced to discontinue my lease here. I'm going to be moving (with all five of my cats) to my great friend CiCi's house. My last day in my apartment is Sunday, October 30th. I'm upset, but need to remain positive, as I cannot make myself sick.

As a result, my mom is very angry. She'd rather have me "get rid of my cats" and move in with her. I'm sad she can't see what they mean to me...and that I'd never part with them like that.

I do, however have some fairly good news regarding my health. I went to see my specialist at Cedars on Thursday and he validated the pain I've been having for over 5 years. He thinks its a nerve ending issue. He said we could try a nerve blocker through the back...but he, nor I, were thrilled about that option. Instead, he's calling my GI and is sending me to a pain management specialist close to me. In the mean time, he's given me more than enough pain medicine that will hopefully keep me out of the ER/hospital.

I'm sad to see my independence go away, but with time, I'll be able to save enough $$ and move to my own place again. I'm so lucky...well, blessed, that I have friends like CiCi and you guys. I don't have any idea what I'd do without you all.

Anyway, just wanted to let you know what's been going on in my life.

    Love, Kelly

P.S. I LOVE my job!! I trained all last week and tomorrow I'm shadowing the person who's job I'm taking (she got promoted to the ER). I'll be there at 6:30 a.m. to see how we open up...and watch her admit patients all day. I'm really looking forward to that.
    ...RIP, our sweet Gini...

Kelly, I am so glad you are managing to remain upbeat and positive, and the new job sounds wonderful.

I can understand why your Mum must be angry - I have had similar issues with mine in the past - and time heals these wounds - the main thing is that you don't stress yourself about it and make yourself ill over it!

Thank goodness you have a wonderful friend like Cici, who understands (as we do) how very important the furkids are to you!

The new pain management you are looking into sounds like another positive step too - hope it continues to work out well.

Sending you tons of prayers and positive thoughts!

I'm so sorry that you have to leave your appartment, as you were so happy when you moved there. But, I just know it, you will find an even better place in the future! It just HAS TO be, you deserve it!
Good luck with your new job, Kelly, it sounds perfect for you!

I am so sorry that you need to give up your appartment, but you have an AMAZING friend who is helping you AND your kitties. I only wish your parents could understand that pets are family memebers.

Kelly, you are truly blessed, and I'm glad you are able to see that. Someday mom will come to understand what the cats mean to you - this move should have reflected that to her.

I am so glad they might have a proper diagnosis for you. What does a pain management specialist do? Teach you ways to mentally deal with the pain? Teach you ways to move when the pain comes? I find this very intriguing since I never heard of one before! It sounds like a god-send for people like you.

Kelly, don't ever forget we're all behind you here and you know how much we all love you. Someday soon we'll see you regain your independence but in the meantime, God Bless CiCi. What a doll she is. Please give her a giant PT hug!! She will not go unrewarded in this life for being so kind. I'm ecstatic that things are beginning to look up for you. Now you can stay with your babies and share the warm, wonderful, companionship of a dear friend. Your life is going to get better all the way around sweetie!!! I'm thrilled about your job too. You go girl!!! Brighter days are ahead!!! As I always tell you, you deserve the very best that life has to offer. You will always rise above the negativity that surrounds us and you will excel at everything. Keep the faith and don't ever forget that we're here for you. You'll never be alone

Best of luck to you Kelly.
I hope this new doctor can help you. The pain management specialist can really do wonders because they use so many other resources than what a typical doctor.

Glad to know things are looking up for you...in that you have a place to go, so that your kitties can stay with you. I am sure during your times of discomfort and pain they have been a stronghold for you...how on earth could you give them up?!! At least your mom will maybe see how much they really do mean to you afterall. I will continue to keep you in my prayers, Kelly. I even thought of you as I sat in church yesterday and the pastor talked about how people go thru such struggles and we often ask God, why? And the hardest part of being a Christian is knowing that in His perfect time and in His perfect way, our prayers will be answered, and that it is something out of our control, and we just have to wait on Him...it can be a long hard road, but He will never leave us...I know it is easier said than done. I know you are struggling with things right now, and it looks like you are going to be just fine...(((HUGS)) across the miles and keep looking up

Hey Sis, was great talking to you on the phone last night and to get your good news in purrson. As Gini says, things will work out......you know that I'm there for you......

What an encouraging update, Kelly! I'm sorry to hear you have to give up your apt., but I whole heartedly agree, keeping your beloved kitties is a top priority! The comfort, support and love they provide is priceless. I know I would have made the same decision. And hopefully the pain management specialist will help to not only ease your pain, but help to get you on the road to complete independence as well, very soon! What a brave young woman you are! Sending you my love and keeping you in my prayers!

I think, perhaps, that your mom, like many, is a bit "shortsighted" when it comes to your wellbeing. She isn't a pet lover and simply can't imagine the additional stress you would endure if you had to try and find loving homes for all of those kitties, Kelly. But we DO understand, and thank goodness for your good friend, Cici!

I'm also so happy that your job looks promising and that you are feeling well enough to endure the training!!!!!

As much as you will miss your apartment, things are looking up for you, my friend!!!!!

    I'm so happy for you.

Well said Logan! I agree. Non pet lovers just can't understand or fathom the feelings we have for our furry family members. I truly believe that Kelly needs her kitties to help with her healing process and in developing her new life.
Kelly, I'm just so glad that CiCi is able to let you stay with her until you get back on your feet. What a blessing that is! I know that your mom's place would not be a good environment for you to be, and I'm sad that she just can't understand your commitment to your kitties. It just shows what a loving, caring and responsible meowmie that you are. You are a wonderful and sweet person, honey!
I'm also so happy that you're enjoying your job! That's even better! Once you get into the swing of things, it will hopefully keep your mind occupied from being sick.

    **hugs**
