Yeah, I remember hearing that Dahl wasn't impressed. And, I just finished the book, as I said, and, realized how different it was from the Gene Wilder movie. The book does have a darker side, and, Roald Dahl himself was a little creepy (in my opinion), in a good way. I did read one review of the new film, saying it was good, but, that Depp took inspiration from Michael Jackson! The article says that Depp says that isn't the case, but, apparently he moonwalks at one point, catches his hair on fire in the movie and also dangles Charlie out of a window. Weird. So, we'll see! I do know that at least the Oompa Loompas will be more like the book describes them.
