My vet charges $40 for males and $50 for females. None of my females have ever been given pain medication afterward and I noticed that the younger they are the less pain they seem to be in. The shelter spays and nueters the minute they hit the two pound mark. The kittens all seem to do well with very few after effects. I have always wanted mine to be a little older but sometimes I think it might be best to do it while they are so young and bounce back so quickly. I will soon be having to make that decision with little Rosco and Abigail.
