    lexies morning

lexie went outside this morning and started eating grass, then came back inside, she went into her house, and then came out sat down and made this awful miaoww, never heard it before, i wondered what was wrong with her, i soon found out she started to vomit, mostly the grass came up, i guess she is ok, she is not as hungry as usual, but seems playful enough etc, maybe she just ate too much grass, what you all think?
What i think is great she let me know something was wrong, she does have many different miaows and i am just learning what each one means, sometimes i think something is wrong, but have since realized she is just chatting, after having ash, who is very non-vocal i just have to get accustomed to my new kittys chatty ways. its fun though
    Furangels only lent.

Eating grass does make cats vomit. Sometimes my kitties will also make a strange meow before they vomit, too.

Yes, grass will make them vomit. I've tried leaving outside until he threw up, but it never worked. And he always managed to do it right in the middle of the white carpeting. It's hard to get the green out of the white. I rather like when they make that strange meow first. It lets you know what's coming so if they happen to be on any kind of carpeting or couch or anything, you can either get them off, or quickly place a piece of paper strategically so it gets the paper, not the couch or carpeting.

I think it's actually good for younger cats to eat the grass and throw up. I think it cleans them out or something. But I've had to stop Tubby from eating the grass now for two reasons. We live in a townhome and I'm sure the landscapers use some sort of chemicals to keep the dandelions and other weeds down. And secondly because he has thrown up so much because of his poor kidneys that I don't want him throwing up anymore than he has to. So even though he immediately heads for the grass when I let him out, I have to rein him in and keep him away from it.

Peanut was never really interested in eating grass. Go figure, she's such a little girly-girl that I'm sure throwing up is way to undignified for her. It would be interesting to see what the guru of fashion and dignity - our very own Miss Edwina - thinks about eating grass then throwing it up. Just so the rest of our kitties know if it's ok or not.

Actually, Lady Edwina heartily endorses the concept of grass regurgitation! ALthough ALWAYS outside.

(She won't tell you this but she makes a decidedly undignified noise that is NOT a meow as she prepares to cleanse her tummy!)

Edwina eats grass and then makes a chocking noise that never fails to frighten me. I too, have heard this is good for cats as it helps prevent hairball blockage.
