I don't see how a rat can be afraid of them. Try putting your rat in one, and if he/she doesn't seem to like it, or is afraid of it, take it away.

I've seen rats in those really huge ones, but they cost like $40 over here. I've tried putting all of my rats in one, but every one hated them. It made them scared and confused.

They make larger ones for rats, so far none of my rats have liked them. Then again my rats have a lot of freedon, they run around their room & sometimes the house. Spoiled girls.

Rats don't need to be in there they won't run away like hamsters and gerbils. I don't think they would like it either. Listen to lukies4me she is very knowlegable about rats. Good luck!

If you're going to try it out, get the large ones made for ferrets. Some rats actually do like to run around in them (just like some like to swim). If your rats don't like it, take them out and just pop it in their cage with the lid off (so there's a large opening) and put some comfy blankies in it, and let them start sleeping in them. I've seen so many adorable ratties sleep in them... they'd prefer that over anything, from what I've heard though.

Oh yes, ratties LOVE to sleep in them! Though I think if she wants to exercise her rats it's better to take them out and actually play with them, not just throw them in a ball. Plop them on your shoulder, let them roam on the couch etc. That's far better than shoving them inside a plastic ball IMO.

BTW, when do we get to see more ratty pics. Ha ha?!

Yup, mine refused to use theirs so it is hanging in their cage for a bed. They love it!
