Getting carpet tile size squares of differing textures (like bubble wrap, indoor/outdoor carpeting, shag carpeting, bumpy rubber, foil, squishy stuff, etc) and putting them on the lower third of the nursery wall for the child to touch.

Just a thought of caution. That sounds like a nice idea, but be careful about what you put up there. What goes up to be touched by hands, could also go in mouths. The bubble wrap might not be the best thing. It is a good idea though if you stuck to soft fabrics or some of the other things you mentioned.

I'm so glad you're encouraging creativity at such a young age! I always cringe when someone says "I'm not creative" because everyone is, they just have to find it!

Thanks for the caution, we wouldn't have the baby unsupervised with anything like that. The squares would be easily removed by stronger adult hands, and would be immediately if they were looking like they weren't holding up to the little hands.
