    Filou is not ok :(

While he was anesthesized for the dental cleaning I asked that they do the bloodwork because it is easier to get the blood. And I cannot tell why I was not sure about his fishy breath this time. And it looks as if he lost a little weight- half a pound, which of course is much regarding my little boy.

Turns out he has too much urea in his blood and they need more tests. Most likely it'll be the kidneys.

I am so worried. He'll go in again Friday. If it is a CRI (chronic renal insufficiency) the only thing that can be done is to slow it down (e.g. by diet food). It cannot be healed completely. All the other alternative diseases it could be are not very funny too.

I try not to sit in the office and to cry. You wouldn't believe what this little gracious, funny and tender guy means to me. (Of course I know you of all people would..........)

    Barbara,

I'm sorry to hear about Filou. I'll keep him in my prayers that he'll be okay. I know how difficult it is not to worry about our furkids. After all, they ARE our family!

Oh no, Barbara! I'm so sorry to hear Filou's bloodwork was not what it should be. Chronic renal failure is what Tubby had - but was not what ultimately killed him. He managed quite well for 3 1/2 years and had the rest of his organs not started to give out, he would still be here because his renal output was actually quite good at the end. So it is something to worry about, but it is also quite manageable and I'm sure Filou will be around for many years to come. There is a lot of good information on the internet regarding chronic renal failure (CRF). I had a bunch of sites bookmarked, but I recently went through my favorites and deleted them all since I didn't need them anymore - sorry. However, a lot of the sites deal with the later stages and if you read through those, you will only imagine the worst and will expect it to all happen in the next month or two. This shouldn't be the case with Filou since you caught it early so those parts are good to read because it's good to know what's coming down the line, but don't worry too much about all that yet. Remember, Tubby didn't need fluids until the last month of his life.

I know this is a worrying time, but if anything it will make you appreciate daily life with Filou even more. Big {{{hugs}}} to you and Siegmar.

Oh Barbara, I'm so sad reading this and I know just what you mean. My Speckles is in the beginning stages of renal failure but she's holding on OK with a low-protein diet. I know it's not the same thing as what Filou has but don't give up hope. Filou is in good hands; try not to worry too much. Oh dear, what am I saying?? I'd be worried sick.

    hugs to you

    Barbara;

We will keep you and Filou in our prayers. Good thoughts going out to both of you. I know how much furkids mean. My 4 mean the world to me and I so miss the 2 furkids prior to them that are no longer with us. They are real babies with fur.

Good luck and keep us posted.

    Oh my gosh

I hope all the extra love and attention he will get will allow him many more good years, as you treat his condition with the vet. Aby's are not known for the great health, as you may know. Paws and fingers crossed for a good/fast recovery for our Filou.

Barbara, chin up, I bet that little rascal will do fine for years to come.

    Love,

Oh Barbara, I'm SO sorry to hear about Filou's possible kidney problem. I hope it's not too serious. Of course you're worried sick, but you have caught it early, so I hope that the right diet will help. I'm sure you'll have Filou around for many years to come.

Fister and I are sending lots of kisses and healing thoughts to Filou, and hugs to you and Siegmar.

    Please keep us updated.
