That's so funny - my parents have a black cat and he will ONLY drink from the bathroom faucet! He won't drink out of a bowl, he'll just go into the bathroom on top of the sink and stand there and meow until someone comes in and turns the water on for him. I've never heard of another cat doing that before. Funny some of the quirks cats have![]()
Zerlina doesn't drink from the faucet (doesn't like the drips on her head), but she does like licking the sink and bathtub... and will drink out of the toilet when she gets the chance.(I keep the lid closed now.) She has a special water dish on the sink edge.

Lots of cats love to drink from the faucet. At the shelter when we have a full house in the kitten room the funniest thing in the world is to turn the water on. Kittens come flying from everywhere!
The few who are not attracted to the sink tend to stare at the milling crowd playing with the water as if they're insane kitties. I'm guessing 'sink' is right up there with 'laser pointer'. Some go mad for it, the rest can't see what the big deal is.
I had a brown calico that loved drinking from the bathroom faucet and as she got older, I had to leave it dripping for her. She died of old age, but also kidney failure. I think the drinking was the first sign of kidney trouble.
I've had cats do that and my cat Taffy likes to lick water out of a glass so don't be too alarmed by this behaviour as the water is probably more colder than in the bowl. Many cats will lick the faucet , toilets etc so if its not harming them then I wouldn't be too worried about it.

MooShoo has taken up a new ritual recently. He sits on the bathroom sink while I'm in the shower. When I come out, I have to turn on the faucet so he can get a "sippy".
