When you posed the rhetorical question "Who was Riley - as in 'Life of Riley' anyway?", it took me back to my childhood - many moons ago (like about 600+), when there was a radio show called "The Life of Riley". He was kind of a goofy character but a lovable one nonetheless.

Aside from the title, the only thing I remember from the show was that the government began "C.A.R.E." packages for the needy. Anyway, the title character informed everyone that they were named for HIM - Chester A. Riley, Esquire.
