I think he is bigger than that. He is just a mutt, though.

He was a purebred Picardy shepherd I believe.

Yes he is a Picardy Shepherd. They are a rare breed & are not for everyone. Don't let the movie fool you. lol They are great dogs don't get me wrong but they need a very experienced owner.
I love them but they are too much for me.

Yup I was gonna say, I read an article about how there are only like... five breeders for this breed in the whole world? Or something. They had to import him from another country.

How did y'all find out that he was a purebred? Did it state somewhere in the movie info? I'm not saying you're wrong, I just thought he was a mutt

I know a dog magazine did an article about the movie a year or so ago that I'd read, so that's how I found out

    Ah, okay.

Did anybody else watch this movie? I thought the plot was good but the acting was a little off and the lines were a bit dumb. It had a good story line, just wasn't written well

I LOVE the movie. When it first came out I was intrigued by the dog, as the appearence is awesome! I've always wanted a wirey haired bigger dog that looks like that... always. So I did some research on the net about it, this is a good site for facts about animals on movies & the such.

Yep, they imported him from a small town in France.
    He's such an adorable dog!

I really want to see the movie!! I read the book a few times, and fell in love with the story!

The DVD is on my christmas list this year.
