Has anyone ever heard of "milliary dermatitis"?

I'm not sure if I spelled this right or not. Angel has little scabs all over her body. I mentioned them to the Vet. when I took her in for her yearly shots in September, but he didn't seem too concerned about them at the time. It was a temporary substitute Vet., as our regular Vet. wasn't in that day.

But they've gotten worse, so I took her back to the Vet. today, and she was examined by our regular Vet., and he diagnosed it as "milliary dermatits". He said it's probably an allergic reaction to something, but he doesn't know what. He gave her a cortisone shot, so hopefully it will settle down some.

She hasn't been "complaining" or acting like it's bothering her or anything. I can just feel it whenever I pet her. But when I would try to get a good look at one of them, she would start grooming and digging like it was itching.

I sure hope the cortisone shot helps!

P.S. I think Angel will try to convince us that it is Shadow and Annie that she is allergic to!

Mr Scrappy had that once, and had huge patches of fur missing as well.
But with 2 Cortizone Shots,he was soon right as rain. We are praying that your Angel will soon be well, very soon.

My little guy spike had that we i got him. So the intern vet gave him a shot, and 10 minutes later he stopped moving. She said he went into a comma, he woke up about 2 hours later. 3 weeks lsince then; the scabs are gone and he is full of energy!

    Thanks kittycats_delight!!

It is feline miliary dermatitis and if you google that, there are quite a few links. I took a guess and dropped the other "l"

Thanks for the information. He checked her for fleas, and she does NOT have any of them, THANK GOD! He also took some hair samples from right where several of the lesions are, so hopefully we'll find a cause. She has to go back in three weeks. We HAVE found some hairballs around the house sometimes, and I started all three kitties on a hairball Science Diet food, in addition to the kitten's Science Diet kitten food.

She doesn't have any patches of hair loss at this point, either, so maybe we caught it fairly early. I'm somewhat upset that the Vet. who checked her in September didn't look into it any further then, though!

This could be an allergy to some food! My neighbour's dog had this too, he got almost bald... . Then they discovered he got it from eating fresh meat! They stopped giving him that, and all problems were over
