    Duncan's new "Butter-like" trick

I read Logan's post this morning about Butter's new "trick" of turning the light on and off and it reminded me of something Duncan did to me yesterday morning! I wouldn't necessarily call it a "trick" unless you want to call it a "nasty" one!!!

Yesterday morning, I let Duncan out to do his business. My roommate had slept out so I was "babysitting" her Jack. The two of them cannot be out at the same time because they roll around in the mud and make a glorious mess of themselves!! So after Duncan went out, I went out on the porch with Jack so he could go. It was about 6:30 in the morning and I was wearing a pair of pjs that my mother had given me for Xmas. White, silk pant bottoms and a sweatshirt! Well, Duncan starts leaping on the door because he wants to come out too and play. Jack finishes his business and comes onto the porch. We turn to go in the house, AND THE DOOR IS LOCKED!!!!!!
Duncan, in all his leaping and flinging, had hit the lock on the door and turned it JUST enough to lock Jack and I out of the house at 6:30 am in my pjs in 30 degree weather with no one else home!!!!!!!!!!!! THE FRONT PORCH!!
People are walking by with their dogs, kids are standing at the bus stop, cars are going by! And there I am, in plain view!

I actually tried (don't laugh too hard at me) but I actually tried to get Duncan to UNLOCK the door but he obviously that was a no-go. ( I don't think saying "Duncan, unlock the door" over and over again worked. Imagine that!!!)
Long story longer, I was out there for about 10 minutes and I finally checked the window (In my defense, it's winter, so wouldn't it be locked?) but it wasn't, so Jack and I crawled back in.
And I've learned my lesson never to leave the house w/o a key if Duncan is inside!!

Anyway, I thought you all would get a kick out of that! Logan, if we get them together, they won't need us anymore!!!

    Have a great day everyone!!!!

I know from experience how that feels!! My Patience locked the screen door on me one time when I was out back also. Fortunately it was the back door so nobody saw me. And also fortunately my four year old was there and was able to unlock the door and save me. Got to love those dogs, huh?!

Funny story! Maybe you should figure out a place to hide a key outside. Hope you don't have a chain lock on the door that Duncan can get his paws onto .

Jennifert what a hilarious story! I was picturing the whole thing in my mind as I was reading. It is very funny now but I am sure it wasn't at the time! I am so glad for you that you left a window open. I hate to think what would have happened if you hadn't! It might be a good idea to hide a key outside, like someone else mentioned, just to be safe! I am so glad you are OK and not all frostbitten!

Heh, heh, heh! Sorry to laugh, but ...

I was accidently locked out last spring by Cassy. Loooong, dreadfully boring story, so I won't go into it all but I had a cordless phone and was finally able to get my petsitter who had spare keys to my condo. Cassy's still my little love-bug, but I never go out into the patio with the dowel that locks the sliding glass door anywhere near the door itself.

So glad you were able to rescue yourself. Very intrepid. Well done, Jennifer!

    Sorry!

That was a hilarious story I know, it sure wasn't at the time, but can you just imagine what you would have had to do if the window hadn't been open !

Hehehe, that's a funny story. Sounds like a situation I'd get myself into.

It reminds me of one night last year when I was coming home from class, my sister was barefoot and shivering locked on my balcony of my old apartment, too afraid to crawl over the edge (the stairs were right there) and yelling for help. Turns out she'd been out there for hours with Reece. My washer and dryer were in a closet on the balcony so she and Reece would go sit on the dryer in between yelling for help.

    I missed this, Jenn!

HE HE HE!!! I think we have some "houdini's" on our hands!!! Bless your heart. At least I was in bed when mine happened and no one saw me in my flannel nightgown!! LOL!!

But I have to tell you, I have been "outside" in some pretty bad pjs before, but never locked out! I'm mostly in my backyard when I'm calling Honey, and hopefully no one but the "bad" backdoor neighbor ever gets a look at me!!

Butter and Duncan would be a BAD combination!!!
