    orange tabbies

To the owner of Lance the orange tabby:

you mentioned that you had lost 2 orange tabbies before getting Lance, I was just wondering, was either one due to any illness?
I recently lost my orange tabby, Cookie. I had to have her put to sleep at only 13 months old, she had a degeneritive brain disorder, where the illness attacks the white matter of the brain.I have been told this is very rare, and has been also found in some labador dogs.

Has anyone else heard of this, or of any cats with it?

It was very hard to let her go, but she was not getting any better,
they say most cats with this, only live up to 6 weeks, and my (tough)Cookie lived to be 13 months old! She got very sick a few days after we got her, and after 2 days in the emergency vets, she was better, then would sometimes get some other symptoms that would require another visit to her regular vet, and some medicine, but on February 12, she got very sick, and there was no more saving her. I am trying to find out more information on this disease, and if anyone else knows anything about this, please email or send me a instant message when online. thanks.
    Mary

I've had a look, but only found a danish site called (translated) netanimaldoctor, there may be a similar site in english.
All diseases are listed, cats, dogs aso. but you have to know the right name for it, to find it. Try and see if you can find a site in english.

    orange tabbies

thanks Randi, I will look at it.

anyone that would like to see a picture of Cookie- there is a pic of her on the link below. Muffin was the cat of the day on Nov.20, 2001. I hadn't got Cookie on there yet, so I will send a entry for her. I am going to try to get another picture of Cookie on the webpage if I can. I have some cute kitten pics of her.

    Cookie looks precious

    Dear ToughCookie,

Good luck finding information on this illness; I'd never heard of it before. Sounds rare... So sorry that you are going through so much pain missing Cookie. Cookie looks like such a precious cat. May you find some healing here at Pet Talk as people share about their beloved furry loved ones.

    toughCookie!
If you're feeling up to it, please tell us some stories about her. That may also help you in your grief. That's at least my experience! I'm sure, even though she was sick, she has been doing some funny things you can share with us. She is in cat heaven now and proud to have a homepage, I'm sure!

She is looking so pretty, hope to see more pics of her soon! Good luck!

Oh how our orange babies find a special corner of our hearts! I'm so sorry you lost your Cookie - it sounds like both you and Cookie deserve lots of credit for fighting a terrible disease.

I lost my big orange tabby Murf just a month ago, so I know you will be thinking of Cookie and missing her so much. You shared many months of loving and caring - thanks for not giving up on her, and for helping others learn about a rare medical condition!
