    Toilet training?

Has anyone tried using this kit to toilet train their cat?

Nope, but it would be interesting. Only problem is a few of them like to drink from the toilet..... so we'd have some obvious flush inssues!

I've thought about it, but never tried it. We have to keep all the toilet lids down because Pepper likes to swim in the toilet. (When she adopted us, she was used to drinking out of the toilet. Every now and then she'd fall in).
Are you going to try it?

We were actually thinking about trying to get Lightning to because of the way he sits perched on the edge of the litterbox. That is a cool idea, but I wonder what lightning would think!

Here's another link, complete with movies of cats in action. (some cats in the videos DO flush... )

    http://pottykitty.net/

I think it's a very clever idea, but I don't think I have the paitence for it.

I think it'd be ideal if you had more than one bathroom, but seeing as I have only one, I'd have to constantly move the litterbox just to go myself during training.

I'd also worry about cats missing or if they did not feel well (cleaning loose poops off a toilet seat... )

Again, very clever though! Just not for me. I'll stick to traditional litterboxes.

Chris, I shared that link at another forum and a user that has toilet trained their cat had this to say:

Those do not work. They are flimsy plastic and the cat will fall through them ruining any chance you have of him trusting the toilet seat.

They also can't be adjusted finely enough. You'll have to shave off only 1/8 inch some times to keep the cat from seeing too big a change and rebeling. These only have 3-4 stages. There are yahoogroups dedicated to this sort of thing. Lots of info to get you started and lots of FAQ, troubleshooting, success stories etc.
I realize it's all a matter of opinion but I just wanted to share.

Of course if someone really didn't want to share a toilet seat with their cat they could spend some big bucks (not sure how much they cost) on a Sani-seat!

    http://www.cleanseats.com/

It's got a sensor to put a fresh new cover on the toilet seat when you swipe your hand by it. I used one at my urologist's office yesterday. And it seemed to have a little timer built in where it wouldn't just rush through the seat covers. I wonder if a cat would be interested in standing on the plasticy feel of that seat cover..
