Cubby is very crabby! *Advice needed*

Cubby has been a biter since before I got him. When I got him declawed ( I have learned my lesson in that. ) Nothing had changed with him. He was still a biter and I figured he would grow out of it some day.

Here we are 4 years later and the problem is still there. He can be the sweetest most calmest cat you would ever see. Then bam out of no where he starts attacking.

At night he curls up with me and does this little nibble thing. It's so cute! But the othere night everything was going as normal. Then all of the sudden he grabbed my wrist. He wouldn't let go of it for nothing. I sprayed him with the water bottle, he still didn't let go. I grabbed him by the scruf of his neck, still nothing happened. I had to pry his mouth open to get my wrist out of his mouth. Once he let go I moved him to the foot of the bed. I figured he would leave me alone, nope he came running back and grabbed me again. Again I had to pry his mouth open. This time I put him on the floor and he got even madder at me. We went through this about 4 times in one night.

How do I stop this? I have tried everything. I don't play with him with my hands anymore, I keep a spray bottle near me at all times, I tried to blow in his face to make him open his mouth. Sometimes the only thing that works is to pry his mouth open. Please help me with this.

I'm so sorry I can't be of any help. Mamma says some cats just bite, it's just the way they are. My uncle Thomas is a biter, but he will actually draw blood. He's always been a biter, and there's not really any chance of him stopping (as he's been like this for about 8 years). He's got his claws, and he also hunts a lot (every night), so it's not like he's taking out any built up agression or hunt instinct on grandmamma and grandpappa. He's well loves and well cared for... but doesn't give much love back!

Only time ours try to bite is if they are overstimulated or dont want to be petted. I stern "NO Bites" works for us. We stop petting in either circumstance.

A couple of ideas - hope they help.

If you want to play using your hand, get an oven mitt. Trust me, I know from experience that they work.

If it would be better to avoid this kind of play, try a feather stick or string or other toy that doesn't involve getting your hand near him.
