    Hollywood movie slump.

I have been watching the Business/Entertainment pages and they are bemoaning the fact that the Box Office (hence to known as BO, because most of the crap outta Hollyweird these days does stink.....) Numbers are way down for a zillion weeks in a row.

There are THOUSANDS OF BOOKS out there that scream to be made into movies......with the Computer Generated Imaging and
other Special Effects that can be done there is no shortage to the material out there...

    Instead??

We get Bewitched, Charlie's Angels and the Honeymooners...

Fricking drivel that craps out in a week.....

I really loved the story that Drew Barrymore refused to use a gun in C.A.'s but agreed to use some of the stupidest SFX in the fight scenes...I took in about 5 minutes if the start of that disaster and turned the channel.....

    --------------------------

    Some hints for Hollywood.

Spend less on 'Blockbusters'-Just because you sign a big name don't mean they are gonna save the movie. THere are better actors that will work for less...

    Go back to the serials....

I for one, would go back to a move house to see a movie and a 'short' ....A serial, big screen 30-40 minute long movie episode

Premiere a new one every 2 months........Again, there are tons of material and actors out there.

I LOVED '24' on television.......It kept me interested and I had to come back every week.....

Lower the prices.....I do like Matinees...but 10 dollars for a bucket of popcorn???? I pay about 70 cents for a bag when I rent the DVD. Do a few dollar days....two for one admission.......

Get rid of the "predictable actor reactions"

The Julia Roberts scream, the Keanu Reeves "Whoa!". the actors complain about being typecast....then agree to do the same thing over and over....

Encourage actors to do an role they wouldn't do otherwise....

I hate Robin Williams....But I loved him in One Hour Photo....He was the sick bees turd that I knew he could play....

Don't rely so much on special effects....

If I see a make believe tank in a war movie.....It make me look for other make believe crap.......If it's a Gollum or a bunch or Orcs running around whacking the crap outta each other, I can handle that...it's supposed to be fake....

I used to love to go to the movies....but I have since dropped to a few times a year, to once a year, to "I don't remember the last movie I went to......"

If they want to win me back, they are gonna have to try very hard.

    Thoughts???

Richard, I never knew Robin could be creepy until I saw One Hour Photo. That's one of my favorite movies now. They've also remade the Bad News Bears I wish they would come out with a few good movies months from each other instead of spewing out new crap every week. They have no imagination any more, it seems.

I agree, there's really not a lot that gets me wanting to pay the outrageous amount of money that it costs to go to the movies these days! I want to see a good movie with a good plot...not this sleazy drivel that's pounded out on the screens (both in movies and in TV) these days. *sigh*

It costs $18 for 2 people to go to the movies where I live (and that's not counting the $10 popcorn! LOL). At that rate, I feel more compelled to just wait and buy the damn DVD for the same price!

Remember when movies were $1.50??!!! Seems like so long ago...

    Here's another hollywood hint:

Stop making movies that look like they were written and directed by pre-pubecent 13 year olds. Gah, the writing on movies has gotten so friggen terible it almost makes me wanna hurl.

and please, if you're going to make a movie about a book, TRY to make it follow the book at least a little...(Recient example: Hitchikers Guide to the Galaxy was utter and total C**p. It was like they weren't even TRYING!)

Hollywood officially sucks, I'm going to go read a book

    RICHARD,

Boy did you hit the nail right on the head!

I have NO desire to see any remakes. They are dumb, and you already know what the outcome is, so why bother??? What's next, the Brady Bunch???

I saw Robin Williams in One Hour Photo and thought it was THE dumbest movie I had ever seen!!

And to think all these actors get paid BIG bucks for this crap!! It amazes me.

As far as the movie "snacks" are concerned, I learned a long time ago from my best friend, who knows how to squeeze a nickle till the buffalo poops, to take in your own snacks. The theaters poo-poo the idea, but they're not about to search you. I usually take in a can of soda or juice and get chips and candy from the local store, which is ALOT cheaper!

Popcorn?? What can I say? There is nothing like theater popcorn with GOBS of butter (I can hear my arteries hardening everytime I squirt on the butter). The great thing about theaters in Michigan (not sure of anywhere else) is they give you free refills and let you put on your own butter! I refill up before I go home too! YUMMY!!

Until these overpaid actors can put on a movie worth paying the money for, I'll wait till the DVD comes out! At least if it does suck, I've only wasted $4 instead of half a paycheck!!

Mollie Rose, you were there for me through good times and in bad, from the beginning.Your passing will leave a hole in my heart. We will be together "One Fine Day". 1994-2009

Don't forget the half hour of your life that you'll never get back sitting through the pre-movie commercials and previews.

I try to hit the matinees to save money. Then we usually share the popcorn and the pop so we feel a little less hosed.

These are not the droids you were looking for

    LOL,
I usually hit my finger with the hammer....

I think Robin Williams is an aquired taste......After seeing Mork from Ork doing all the interviews I tired of him...

Another actress I COMPLETELY HATED was....ack, I can't of her name....

OH OH!! Juliette Lewis......I wanted to kick her arse in Cape Fear....she was great in that movie!! I was yelling thru the whole movie.....STUPID, DON'T do it....I forgot it was a movie!!!

If you have heard the New Batman is an actor by the name of Chris Bale????

He make a really dark, nasty movie called American Psycho....

    I loved that flick too!!!!

Sometimes a trip thru the 9.98/4.98 bargain bin at Walmart or Target is good way to grab a few flicks for the weekend!!

American Psycho. Now that's some messed up %$@#! I didn't realise he was the new Batman. I love all those creepy movies. He was scary in that movie. One movie I hated was Natural Born Killers. Juliette Lewis was in that one, too.

I was just thinking last night how there aren't many movies out that I'm pumped to see. The last movie I was excited about, and, paid off...was Garden State. That's going to be a favorite for a long time. The Oscar nominated movies (for best picture anyway) were good, I thought. The only one I didn't see was the Aviator. I will, though. Sideways, Ray, and, Million Dollar Baby were all good, in my opinion. Sideways was so original! Very cool. But, yeah, the only movie I really want to see out now is Batman Begins. I do want to see Madagascar, too, but, I want to wait to take my niece, if she hasn't seen it, yet. I don't care for remakes, usually, but, I'm so excited about Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. I'm always excited about a new Tim Burton film, and, Johnny Depp takes the excitement up another notch. But, right now, nothing really catches my eye. Oh, and, I've heard good things about Cinderella Man.....

I do think Hollywood needs to step it up a notch. And, yeah, knock concession prices down. I always take a big bag with my own drinks and food, though. And, I usually pass as a student.

Yeah, Christian Bale is in a newer movie called The Machinist, I've heard it's gritty and pretty nerve wracking but, I haven't seen it yet. I loved Natural Born Killers, but, it screwed with my head for a couple of nights. I think she's a great actress, I always forget I'm watching her, and, feel like I'm watching whatever character she's playing.

Yeah, unfortunately I can. But, Lindsey Lohan was adorable in the Parent Trap remake, I loved that movie. I'm not all that interested in the Herbie movie, though.

You are so right! I hate that everything has to be an outlandish overuse of the F-word and other uneccessary curses, and mostly the ubiquitous nipples, cleavage, nipples, belly, nipple, butt, nipples... did I mention nipples? OMG, in real life I never see this many running around town! Are sets really cold or something?? It makes me uncomfortable to even watch a moive... all that gratuitous boobage.

Then we have the starlets who would be knocked over in a strong wind because they are so skinny. Show me a real woman. One with real boobs (like the tie in from rant #1? ) We are a mixed world now... not everyone is 5'9, 98 pounds with 36D boobs. Lets show a better representation of the beautiful variety humanity has to offer!

And when they make a kids movie, half the time the jokes and such are soooo not appropriate. Like in Shrek 2 when the gingerbread man was wearing a thong... OMG... I was appalled. And I see this Charlie and the Chocolate factory... it looks like Willy Wonka meets Goth. It looks scary and dark and sooo is going to kill what was already a classic and perfect movie. Yes, he DOES look like the dude from CLockwork Orange. I couldn't for the life of me figure out WHY I've been thinking of that movie all week. As soon as Richard mentioned it, things clicked!
