Kelcee's June update !

She weighs 8.2 poounds and is doing good. Dr. Curt has taken her off the steriods, prednisone, for 3 weeks to see how she eats and if she looses any weight. So hopefully she will do just fine. I'm very scared taking her off, that she won't eat enough. But he says we need to try it this way.
So for now all is good. I'll post again at her 3 wk mark.

Great news!!! Although I'm surprised he's going to take her off cold turkey instead of weaning her off, but he should know what he's doing and hopefully she'll continue to do well.

Come on Kelcee, keep eating!!!!

She has been on 1/2 then skip 2 days then 1/2, I guess (hope) he thinks that's a pretty low dose. I may call again Monday morn and check, but that's what he said. I was just going to put in another day and go 3 without, but I never did it. I'll post again on what he says Monday.

She will have to stay on the other meds he said. And later if all goes well, take her off the banazapril, for high blood pressure,which she doesn't have, but it is good for the kidneys.

That seems like an extremely dosage that she's already on, so I think she'll do just fine when you take her off altogether. I had heard that cats with kidney disease were prone to high blood pressure so it's good that she's being monitored for that also.

Thanks everyone for the well wishes !!!
I just talked with her Dr. Curt and he said just take her off the steriods as it is a small dose she shouldn't have any trouble. And if she is not eating put her back on, same dosage. Hopefully she will do well. He said bring her back in a month to get her weight and we'll go from there. She is doing very well. But without the meds, not sure if she will eat enough. That was the original problem to begin with. But her food has been changed and no more treats of any kind and no more ice cream. So without her little special things maybe she will eat her food.
Again thanks for your good thoughts, I know I'm not on very much any more but figured I'd post her progress for the people who know her !!!!
