    Advice needed on moral question!

I really would like to get some advice or hear some opinions on this!

Tomorrow morning I shall go and visit my mother for about 10 - 14 days or so. I'll take Bella with me, since I don't like to leave her alone in the appartment for more than 3-4 days, even though Randi would feed her and check up upon her.

At my mother's place, Bella and I have a spare room/guest room to ourselves, and Bella mostly stays in there, because of my mother's own two cats.

In that room is a very tall cupboard which is made from wood laminates, so the surface is very slippery. Nevertheless, Bella will insist of jumping up on the top of it - she always does. All she has to take of from - is a narrow bedframe, so it is a really high jump for her. Bella is 11 years old now, and I'm getting very nervous that this jump will be too much for her, and that sooner or later she will fall down and probably hurt herself on the bedframe.

My question is this: Can I ask my mother that we move the furniture around the room in order to make it easier for Bella to jump up there or to make it completely impossible - when it is my mothers house and mothers room?

    Lots of love,
    Sus and the Bellacat

God, I forgot the smilies again! It happens when I get all concentrated on the language... and it doesn't seem possible to put them into the text afterwards? Anyway, here's one:

I think you have the right to ask your mom. Ask it gently, and as she has cats of her own, she will understand what you mean!! Good luck, okay!
ps. You know Randi? How far do you live apart?

I'm sure you are close to your mom if you are visiting that long - (not possible with me and my mom! haha) so I would certainly ask and the fact that she has her own cats I'm sure she will understand more than if she did not. Have a good vist. Debbie

I am sure you can ask your mom. (You can always ask- you could ask friends too )

On the other hand I would not be too worried. If it's a high jump for her she may not do it anymore. E.g. my 9 year old boys no longer jump on top of doors

    I ma sure,that your Mother,as a Cat Lover,would not mind,at all.And My Mother,was a master,at asking questions,is a diplomatic way,that you felt,that it was an honor,to comply.Good Luck,with Bella!

Sure, you have the right to ask. But, I'd ask her if it's okay if YOU move the furniture while you're there and YOU move it back the way she had it when you leave.

Ask your vet about microchipping. ~ It could have saved Kuhio's life.

I would ask about moving the furniture around. As long as when you leave everything is returned to its original place I am sure she will understand.

Thanks so much kittycats_delight for the beautiful siggy and avatar of my kids!

    About diplomacy and other things!

I'll try to ask her with as much diplomacy that I can muster... and hope to God, that she won't make an issue between her and I of it.

I don't think I can count on Bella being sensible enough to quit trying... she can smell my mother's cats, and she just love her little den on the top of the cupboard where there is only 40 cm between the cupboard and the ceiling. She feels safe there!

And yes, Randi and I live very near by each other - I think it's about 20 metres! She came by a little while ago to see about my flowers and have a cup of coffee! She has offered to take care of them while I'm at Fyn (Funen). It is great to have a friend close by - so we can help each other!

    Love,
    Sus and the Bellacat

Darn! Forgot about the smilies again!! ("When will she ever learn.."!)

She's your mom! Of course you can ask her! Depending on what sort of person she is... the worst thing she can say is no! Good luck!
Thank you joanofark for my fab new avatar!

I would ask - we are always doing things at our house to accommodate the cats!
