I just came in from work and evidently while I was gone, one of my cats discovered where I have been hiding my lucky bamboo plant. I found a bunch of it chewed up on the floor. Does anyone know if this is poisonous to cats?

Just worth a quick call to the vet, I'd say. Quite a few houseplants can be poisonous to cats, unexpected ones too. If puss is chewing plants maybe a sign s/he wants to chew grass. If it's an indoor cat you can plant up a tub of cat grass (usually found with the kitchen herbs at garden centres, here in Oz anyway) and leave it near a window for light. My girls have a tub on the balcony they go out to nibble on when I'm home. I expect puss will be OK but I'd still check with vet if it were me.![]()

I don't know much about plants, but looks like kittycats_delight does. Thank you for the list! I don't have much of a green thumb so I can't usually keep anything alive anyway, but in case I do decide to give it another try I know what I won't get.
I agree it wouldn't hurt to give the vet a call, just to ease your mind.
Thanks for the list. Both of my cats seem to be fine
Guess it was UNlucky for the plant! My cats have never bothered my lucky bamboos.....so far. My other plants I've had to rub dishwashing liquid on the leaves so they won't chew them. I'll be glad when the weather gets nice & warm and I can put the plants outside.
Loving meowmie to Archy & Binky (RIP my sweet boy 10/13/10)
