Breed Bans in Illinois? Please read

I just ran across this on a pit bull board....

It's legislation that was just brought up on 02/25/05....Illinois PT folks should take a close look at it. Also, I think this proposal is for statewide, not local to Chicago or anything.

    Illinois Breen Bans?

    And check out this excerpt:

(c-5) Any dog that is of any of the following breeds shall
25 be deemed to be a dangerous dog by the Administrator or
26 Director and shall be registered by its owner as a dangerous
    27 dog:
    28 (1) Pit bull.
    29 (2) Rottweiler.
    30 (3) German shepherd.
    31 (4) Huskies.
    32 (5) Alaskan malamute.
    33 (6) Doberman pinscher.
    34 (7) Chow chow.
    35 (8) Great Dane.
    36 (9) St. Bernard.

It looks like the bill is still in it's "baby" stages, so if anybody is going to protest it, now should be the time.

St. Bernards are dangerous? Yeah, for the couple I've met at the dog park, it would only have been if they sat on you...

Someone has been watching too much Cujo . Before long they will deem all larger breeds as dangerous breeds.

    Load of crap....

My neighbors have a chow chow, her bark is so loud it terrifies people, you let her sniff you and she becomes this lap dog that wants nothing more than to lay across your lap.

Next thing you know poodles will be banned because of their resembelance (sp?) to some 'dangerous' dog.

The prejudice is spreading. Pretty soon it'll be even more out of control and you'll have to take your Chihuahua out with a muzzle on.

Something's gotta be done about this.

Great Danes?? Huskies?? St. Bernards?? GSD's?? This really is a load of crud! I don't thnk they should ban any breed of dog, unless it is extreamley dangerous.

Again, a law that only applies to law abiding citizens. I'm sure somehow a bright orange dog tag will keep a dog from biting. I wonder why Cocker Spaniels weren't on that list since they are America's number one face biter.

I just skimmed through it and I'm confused, are they planning to ban those breeds or just make them be wear an orange tag and be insured?

    It sucks either way.
