Chow and puppies in need of home

Last week someone dropped off their pregnant chow in my neighborhood. She ended up in my yard, so I took her in until I could find her a home. The last thing I wanted to do was let her run around considering we live right by a highway. Anyway, she ended up having her puppies outside in my other dog's kennel. She had 6 adorable little ones....3 black, 2 white, and 1 brown. Today they are 4 days old. As of right now she and the puppies are staying in my spare bedroom, but I can not keep her. My boyfriend and I are moving next week and we have too many animals as it is.

I am from Sumter, SC and have called Pets Inc. in Columbia. They don't have any available foster homes right now and can not take the mom and puppies until they are 6 weeks old, old enough to be adopted. My other option is the SPCA here, but they want $10 for the mom and $5 per puppy. I really don't have a good feeling about taking her there, cuz I know they won't TRY to find her a home. She is a VERY lovable dog and seems to be house trained. She has not used the bathroom inside at all and when she has to go out she lets me know if I haven't already taken her.

Is there anyone in the Sumter area or within driving distance (I will be willing to meet half way or more) that can provide a permanent home or at least a foster home until the puppies are old enough to be adopted?

All help would be greatly appreciated!

    Thank you, Krystal

If you were closer I'd take them but the pups are much to young for the transport this far. I hope you can find some one to take them . Mom looks just like our Dugan hes chow /newfoundland.

Oh how I wish there was something I could do to help. Momma is beautiful and so are the pups. I'm a sucker for chows and this just breaks my heart.
I hope and pray that you find someone that can take them. Please keep us updated on what you do.

I wish there was something I could do to help. Chows are wonderful dogs, I had two growing up.

I looked around and here's a few Chow rescues,I couldn't find any in SC, but maybe one of these rescues could help you out.

    This one is in OH

AngelEyez1982 - I live in the Myrtle Beach area. Maybe there is something I can do to help!?!?!?

I don't think that I could actually help foster these kids (maybe..?!?!) but I may be able to help in some other way. I'll start looking around here locally and see if there are any no-kill shelters or fosters open for a mom and her babies. Maybe we'll be able to give these little darlings a great chance at a wonderful new life.

**edit** I've emailed a few local rescues so we'll see what comes of it....*fingers crossed*

Thank you for the website. I emailed a couple of places and am still waiting on a response. I did however get a PM from one of the members here who is willing to take them in at her no-kill animal shelter. I'll keep everyone posted.

How are they doing? Have you found a place to foster them?

Hi UaBassoon, I thought I would answer you back so you aren't worrying about the pupies. As you might know, I own an animal rescue and I was able to take in momma and Babies.

For an update on them you can go here Update
