I got a call from the vet dentist last night to come in for a formal consultation. The other visit was with the regular vet. The dentist said it was a bruised tooth and not fractured like the other vet said. In 90% of these cases, the dog never has any problems if they don't do anything. So he recommends waiting to see if Dusty experiences any pain (which he doesn't think he will) and if not just leave it be.
The color of the tooth will never come back but he isn't in pain so I'm just going to monitor it like the vet dentist said and see if he does ok.
I am relieved. At least now I don't have to make the decision.
