    prayers for gigi

Hi everyone...I would like to ask for some prayers for my kitty gigi... She is now approximately 14 and is showing signs of slowing down, this week she seems more lethargic than normal, if she doesn't perk up more by tomorrow I am going to take her in (sounds stupid but I am kind of afraid to take her in, I am afraid it is getting close to her time)

I am sitting here at work crying because I knew this day would come and I am afraid its getting closer.

    Please take her today.

Sometimes with an older cat (any cat I guess) time makes a huge difference in the outcome, they can go downhill very quickly.

It could be something totally treatable and waiting could hamper that.

My first cat lived to the ripe old age of 19 through three bouts of cancer in his lifetime.

I feel your pain because at that age, I had no other options, but you wont know until you get aggressive and find out...and she may have A LOT more time left.

My thoughts and prayers are with you and gigi.

I'm so glad she is going to the vet, today. It will ease your mind and perhaps help Gigi, too. We have many, many seniors, older than Gigi, who are thriving, at Pet Talk. I have one, myself, Mimi, who is 15 1/2. Hang in there and keep your chin up!!!!

Thanks everyone...I am pretty much a worry wart. My sister just lost her cat 2 years ago and I watched him go downhill and it just scares me...he was 17 though so hopefully she has some more time.

I'm thinking/hoping that Gigi just has a slight problem that needs a little attention. I'm so glad you got her in today because like Shady says, a lot of time with older cats the earlier the diagnosis, the more they can do to help.

I'll be hoping and praying it's nothing serious!

Well my worst fears have pretty much come true, gigi has cancer. She has a mass in her abdomon. We will start chemo tomorrow...after 14 years I want to give her a fighting chance and give us a chance to come to terms with saying goodbye if we have to.

I believe it is lymphoma...I was upset this was my worst fear...I just felt it was something bad. I asked the vet how she could be tearing around the house on Monday and now this, he said cats hide their illnesses really well because in the wild they would have a disadvantage being sick.

I was afraid to bring her home because I haven't seen her drink all day so he gave her some fluid.

Please continue your prayers, who knows maybe we will get another year with her.

I am so sorry to hear about your precious Gigi. My heart goes out to you as I could only imagine how you must have felt hearing this terrible news.

Prayers and positive thoughts on the way that the chemo will do it's job and you will continue to have Gigi for many more years.

    (((((HUGS))))) to you for support.

I'm very sorry to hear about Gigi. Please don't give up hope though, there's always a chance of her still enjoying quality time with you for quite sometime. Prayers and thoughts to Gigi and you.

I'm so sorry, but now you know and can agressively try to treat this right away.

I'll share with you my Rocky's story, because I felt the same as you when he was first diagnosed.

When he was 15 the cancer was discovered, he was treated and for a year and a half he was fine, then it returned. Through it all he never showed symptoms or pain, I'm not sure we werent just lucky with that, however, we treated it again, same thing, fine for quite awhile. When he was 18 it returned for the final time, we decided we had put him through enough and kept him with us for much longer than God intended naturally. We did not treat it the final time, and we did have him for another full year, during it all from the beginning his quality of life did not suffer, and we vowed that at the first sign of pain or degradation we would surrender him to the Rainbow Bridge. We did that.

I hope and pray you are as fortunate as I was in so much as having the bonus time.

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your baby.
