Well, a tiny bit late, but Saturday was Pacer's one year anniversary here. He's another foster failure, but I failed within a couple weeks with Pacer. Last year, Friday November 6, I went to the shelter to pick up a new foster dog. I spent well over an hour sitting in Pacer's kennel while shelter staff member sat across the aisle from me in Founder's kennel. We debated that entire time about which one needed out more! Pacer won as the walking volunteers wouldn't take him anymore. He was too skittish; he dragged them on-leash and at the off-leash area no one could catch him again. Pacer had already been at the shelter for over a year so further confinement wasn't going to help him any.
The first night he was here, Pacer figured out how to open the door to the arctic entry and set himself free. He was loose for the next four days! There was no way he was going to let me catch him. He finally came through the pen gate when he got really lonely for other dogs. As you can see from this picture, he's much more comfy in the house now!
He's come a long way, baby! He's still timid, but not nearly as much as he used to be. He loves to pull and run. He thinks the new fenced area is great. This was taken the first time I ever let him loose in the big yard.

PS: Founder, the second dog we debated about arrived a few weeks later and is still here too!
