Mutt Show Toledo 2/26/05

Anyone interested? I'll post more about it later, but it was fun last year.

Here's a little more about it:

Enter your beloved mixed-breed dog in the second annual GREAT AMERICAN MUTT SHOW, TOLEDO, which will be held February 26, 2005 at the SeaGate Center. Come with or without your pet to watch the fun, as mixed breeds finally get their day in the sun. Our last year's Best In Show winner, "Tricky" went on to claim the national ribbon. Food, contests, vendors and friendly competition await you. Cost to enter your dog is $20. Cost for Spectators is $5 for adults, $3 for escorted children 14 and under, free for children 3 and under. Now that I have a few more minutes, and I am not at work, I can add a little more (what I posted before was from the humane society website)

The Mutt Show is a regional dog show. The local winners used to go to New York to compete inthe National Mutt Show, but in the past few years, they have been doing the competion online.

Our local show was alot of fun last year. Amy was here for a Pet Talk meeting, and Nebo got to participate in some of the "fun" contests, like popcorn catching. (So yes, purebred dogs are welcome as well

) My parents also came up to go to the show.

The way the show is run, is they have "mostly" categories...mostly lab, mostly shepherd, mostly hound, etc. They also have mostly mutt, for the true Heinz-57. In each category the award prizes for the dogs that look most like the breed and the least like a breed. All these wimmers comete for Best In Show. Last year I showed Sadie, this year I may show Cincy...haven't decided yet.

Last year, like I said before, they had many fun contests too...popcorn catching, best trick, doggy sit-ups etc.

I know weather maybe trick in Ohio come February, but if anyone is able to make it, it should be alot of fun!

I wish we could come!!
I doubt my parents would allow me to go on another trip so close to my Utah one. I do think we'll possibly be coming for summer though.. possibly!

I know this is still a ways off, but I wanted to bump it up so it is at least on the page if you only have "the last 30 days" showing and because I just got an email copy of the registration form. Thisis only if you want to show your mutt...anyone can come and bring your dog, but to show off your mutt, it is $20.

The categories are:

Mostly Terrier
Mostly Lab
Mostly Spaniel Mostly Toy
Mostly Hound Mystery Breed
Mostly Collie Mostly Shepard

Awww.. no 'Mostly Husky'.

I'd still bring Kia. She's pretty good at catching popcorn.

Can't make any promises this early on, but if nothing pressing is on the calendar, I'd love to come!

I found out the show is from 10-2. I think Ralph and I are doing a vaudeville sow that night, so it should work out well for us to be there during the day. Hope at least a few PTers (and their pups) can make it!!

I just found out last night, they have decided to add a "meet the breed" for the purebred dogs. If anyone who may want to come, wants to show your purebred (esp. if it is a more rare breed), I can get more info on that! ( From my understanding there would be no entry fee for that, and you would get in free!)

This really sounds interesting, I'm going to put it in my date book and see how it pans out. Even though she would just be a bystander, I'm not sure about bringing Gabbie. It might be best to go without her.
