Help! Asap!

I need your help! My (adult) friend Anne has a gorgeous 2 1/2 year old black lab named Cheska. Cheska recently developed a skin problem on her paws in the past week. She lost most of her hair on her paws- the fur is sparse, and she is constantly licking and chewing her feet. She bought Cheska a E-collar and she is currently wearing it, but it she is VERY smart and figured out how she can adjust the collar so she can still lick her paws- not as much as she did w/o the collar. Anne, Cheska, and I were up north two weeks ago and Cheska did a lot of swimming in a small lake and played around a lot in the cattails and marsh weeds which is very muddy. We are thinking that is what is causing this, maybe some kind of bacteria was in the water/mud and is causing her paws to itch and loose hair. It also looks like it could possibly be ringworm. The skin is rather irrated and looks puffy, it is red and is bleeding in some spots the hairloss is mainly in a large ring shape.

She is going to call the vet tomorrow, but it maybe a while before she gets an appointment, since her vet is always booked.

What do you think could be causing this!?

Tape socks to her feet & put polysporn on her sores. That stuff works great on Dogs.

With the socks she can still try to lick her paws, but the socks will get in the way & with the e-collar on she shouldn't be able to chew off the tape to hold on the socks

wash, air dry, polysporn, tape a bangage cloth on, tape #1 sock on & then tape # 2 sock on.

my RB dalmation chewed her paws,and we did the tape and paw thing,but she would take off the sock!
But take him to the vet,it sounds like a skin infection,is he's loosing hair and chewing his paws,or he got bacteria.

YLL--Kito was doing the same thing last summer right around this time, and I've noticed him starting again.
Last year, I gave him a bath with a shampoo called Sulfodene, which I picked up at a regular store (walmart or target). His paws were missing hair and he was constantly biting at them and licking at them. After I gave him a bath with that shampoo, his biting and licking stopped almost immediately, and the hair all grew back normally, as if it were never missing.

Obvisouly if the source is an infection or bacteria this may not work to heal the dog, but it may help relieve the itching until the vet can see her.

Keep us updated please, I hope it's an easily fixable problem.

Any decent vet will make room for an appointment for something like that so she should be able to get in. If not, she needs to describe the situation to them better because I don't know of any vet who would make her wait for that.

I drew that last year for another PTer. Spent a whole 5 mins drawing it, cause quality doesn't matter in this case

I used the socks on RB Max all the time. mostly for bug sores. He would chew & chew & chew & would lick off the polysporn off if I didn't put Socks on him.

This is one reason its good to get ur dog use to wearing clothing.

RB Max also had to wear boxers often cause his tummy was naked & all the dugs would feast on it & pee pee. SO putting the Boxers kept the bugs away & when he did get bitten the boxers stopped him from chewing the bites & the bug bite meds. All this usually happened while camping.


Also many the pooch walked through Poison Ivy???

My cousin's pitbull was doing that, and someone told them to put "Gold Bond" itch powder on it, and it worked really well, it was messy, but good.

Also the vet told them that it could become a habbit, the same as people biting their nails.
