    In the car barking,,, ARGHHH

    Help.... I have a problem,,,,

Lucy, my dob/am staff is a wonderful girl,, friendly yet shy has a definate car possesion problem,,,, When she is in the car with us and she sees another dog she goes NUTS!!! I mean she sounds like she wants to rip its head off,, yet she seems to get along with other dogs just fine when she meets them..... never had a problem,, She is like that if someone looks at her too long in the car too,, or comes too close,,,, I dont think she would ever bite,, I think she is just nervous,,, Why,, I dont know,,,

does anyone elese dog do this??? I really want this habit to be cured,,,,,

Well,my dalmation used to do that, but the only difference was that she ABSOLUTELY HATED others dog,she has attacked dogs before and had bit them so bad that they had to get stitches, but she loved people, ecpecially kids. But she used to bark in the car is she saw a cat,or a big dog,or even a little Chihuahua(spl??).lol silly gurl. ,well im not really sure that it is a possesive thing over the car.i couldnt stop sheena from barking,i would tell her know but she wouldnt listen.and we would try to hold her head the other way so she doesnt see the animal,& or people.but im not really sure the proper way to cure that behavior??

    CURE!!!
My Rocky does that. Such a headach and he
ruined the blinds to my motorhome too.

Unless you have someone that can
do the driving while you sit in the back
    with Lucy.
That way every time "before" she reacts in the
kill mode, you stick a treat by her mouth
and have her concentrate on you.
(get her mind away from that other dog).
Hopefully in time she will start thinking the dogs
outside aren't that bad and she gets rewarded
when she does not act up.

(I never did this in the car, but it worked
for me when I used this method while walking Rocky in the neighborhood by gates with barking dogs.)

Tasha is extremely vocal in the car. When we drive past a dog/s she goes NUTS and barks uncontrollably- because she is guarding me. When we stop at the store or something, and I walk away into the store she goes NUTS and barks and barks and barks and whines! She jumps from seat to seat- she's crazy! She just loves me so much and doesn't want to be seperated from me!

thanks for all the replies,, I will have to keep on trying to discourage her barking like always and be thankful her noseprints on my windows are easily washed off,,, Gee,, maybe if I just dont bother washing them,, eventually she wont be able to see out the windows,,,,
