Buddy just slipped outside running up some steps...he screamed and is crying...and he won't put any weight on his back foot....
Can I give him baby aspirin? I remember that aspirin or tylenol are dangerous for dogs, but I can't remember which....PLEASE HELP ME AND MY 9 YEAR OLD BOY!!

Keep him quiet and give him one aspirin. Hopefully it's "just" a pull or sprain. If he's still having a lot of trouble weight bearing in a few hours, I'd call the vet; it might be a good idea to get it xrayed. Actually, you might want to call now, since it's late on a Saturday afternoon and you might not be able to reach your vet tonight. I feel awful for you and your precious Buddy

How big is Buddy? He's a Golden/Border Collie? He's big enough to take 2 baby aspirin. Can you go read the dosage on the aspirin bottle? I think baby aspirin is 82 mg. per tab so he could take two. An adult has 325 mg. of "aspirin." Is your Mom home? It is probably a good idea for you to call your vet. He probably should be looked at. Does Buddy seem to be in pain laying quietly? Make sure he stays off the leg till you can get it checked.
And I'm a wreck when they are sick/injured, even though I'm a nurse. And you know, when we're sick or in distress, we ALL want our moms!
