    "Papering"

"Papering" is what the game my cat likes to play is called. She sits on a stack of papers, then after about 5 minutes of sitting she starts backing up and then she runs and slides on the paper! It makes a big mess in our house, but Hey....... she enjoys it!

Hmmm! "Papering". That sounds like something I could try with my cats. Maybe I'll set one of them on some papers and see what happens! I'm always looking for something new and different (and easy!) to excite/interest my cats!

    Thanks for sharing!!

Try a paper airplane. tape it up w/ a minimal amount of tape so it won't unfold. tape a streamer to it. throw it and watch the fun begin. After i stop throwing it, zezu will run as fast as he can with it, trying to get it to fly.

I'll have to try that, too, Ben! I did try a paper airplane a few times before, but the cats didn't get too excited. Maybe if I put a streamer on it like you do, that will enhance it for them. And maybe if I make the plane smaller (not use a whole sheet of paper)...

My Bo loves newspapers folded over once - he crawls in halfway (looks kind of like pita bread) with his back legs sticking out and then proceeds to scoot around the room blindly. What a hoot! (I guess he's a hooter scooter!)

"Skiing" is also fun with a stack of newspapers - take a running leap and see how far across the room you can slide! I've come home to a house full of newspapers that were once neatly stacked before everyone decided to go skiing!

You mean there's such a thing as 'neatly stacked newspapers' when there are cats in the house??!!

Yeah, sometimes it's possible to keep them stacked for up to 3 or 4 seconds!

At my house, the newspapers get shredded! Who needs an electric shredder when Butter is around! He LOVES paper of all kinds and has shredded some pretty important stuff too, like checks, customer files, etc!!!

My youngest cat OBSESSIVELY likes to sit on magazines or papers one might leave on the bed. My husband is convinced she is reading them because it it is something she has sat on before, she won't sit on it again. He claims she has "already read that one!" Ah, we cat people can certainly amuse ourselves, can't we? :rolleyes
