    Frustrated Hubby.

    Afternoon all,
Well... as you know we have two cats.. Shadow our 14 year oldquirky Calicom and Clayton our newly adopted (jan 2004) Tuxedo.
Shadow has NOT adjusted well to CLayton being here. But we have been dealing with it. We have moved her litter box to the powder room on the main floor becasue she refuses to go to the basement where Clayton hangs out in the day time. I have extra dry food and water upstairs in one of the bathrooms for her.
Welllllll TWICE this week she has used my husband's study to go potty #2. He just found the second little gift and he exploded. He ranted that he was sick and tiored of thses two GD cats... yelling SICK OF THEM!!!!!! and stormed downstairs.

I cleaned up Shadow's mess... sprayed it with FELIWAY.

WHAT IS SHE DOING???? Her little box is clean. I am NOT moving it upstairs. If I had my way it would be in the basement with Claytons.....
WHat do I do? THisis the second thime this week and as you all can guess in the same spot.

    HELP again.

Shadow, at 14, might be having problems OTHER than Clayton your new cat. She is considered old now and may have problems reaching a litter box that is too far away. The kindest things you can do for her are (1) a vet visit for a senior's profile to make sure that she is healthy and (2) provide her with as much comfort as you can and yes, that may include moving her litter box to the upper floor where she feels the most safe.

    DEarerst Friend,
Hubby is calmed down.. I was in tears becasue I love my babies so very much.... he agreed that we need to move the litter box upstairs. he loves Shadow dearly but is stressed to find her using his office as her personal potty. He said that Shadow is still upset becasue of Clayton. I said Clayton has been here for 4 months now, I have a feeling that something else is going on. When I suggested that she could be getting dementia he just looked at me. I said YES.. animals get dementia too. She is 14.. equuivalent to 84. Our daughter , who is home from college said that Shadow has been acting "weird". I'll make an appt to tak eher to the vet... IF I can catch her.

THank you so much for bring here for me.. as always and again.

    Blessings and love,
    Mommacat... Deb

Don't beat 'em, join 'em. When I adopted Mishi, after a few months using the litter box in the bathroom, all of a sudden he started pooping by my front door. I tried spraying, cleaning, etc. but he still kept doing it so I did what seemed to make sense: I put the litter box where he wanted to poop. Not the greatest location, but I don't have any messes to clean up anymore. He's happy and I'm somewhat happy. Whaddya gonna do? They're our kids, they're furry and can't talk so we do the best to keep them happy. You may need to give Shadow her own litter box where she wants to do her business.

I moved her box upstairs to the laundry room off of our dayghter's bathroom.
Shadow looks so sad.. it i sbreaking my heart. I go into Liz's room and pet her, and tell her Momma loves her. I just found out that my husband told her she couldn't come back into his study. My heart almost broke. I am almost in tears.

In my experience with cats, litterboxes need to be in an area where there is no traffic and they have some privacy, also away from their food and water.

I hope your solution helped. Not being able to go into hubby's study isn't the WORST of scenarios. She'll get over it.
