Baby rat pics, two days old :) PLUS, photos of my Downunder ratty boy Roo

The babies are doing really well. They are now two days old and growing fast. I *think* the two darkies may be Russian blues so I am keeping my fingers crossed!

This little one was cleaning her face when I took the photo. So cute!

I LOVE this photo! It is so adorable!

    You know I'm cute...

That is my Downunder boy. Only a handful of breeders have these rats, and I am one of them. The mutation originated in Australia, hence the term Downunder. Unlike any other species of rodent on earth, they have a double pattern. They have a marking on top and also have a marking on their belly as well in the white. These rats were imported into the US just about two years ago and we are still learning much about the gene.

Here are his belly spots. Such as kissable tummy!

    Hope you enjoyed the photos.

    Thanks!

I will most certainly try to post pics every day of their growth and coat and color change. All the babies are going to be curly and I cannot wait to see how these little ones are going to look once all fluffy and soft.

Momma is eating at the moment. She has a leftover tuna fish sandwhich, some pepperroni, mushroom and olive pizza, some whole wheat crackers and bannana chips, hehe.

Aww... love their little whiskers. How old will they be when they start getting their hair?

They will be about a week old when their fur is really visible. Right now they have a soft down to them, but you can't really see it.

    Thanks YLL!

I agree, I would love to see pictures everyday, so we could watch them grow! That would be like having our own babies!

They are so cute, it is just unbelievable that something so tiny could live outside the mom. I love your sweet downunder guy too!

They are just darling, Cass! It's been a long time (longer than I wish to remember ) since I had little hairless babies. We had two litters of hamsters when I was a little girl.

Your Downunder boy, Roo, is adorable!!!!

Thanks everyone. I just noticed this morning that one of the dark babies has a blaze!!! It's a very nice blaze too, so I am very excited!
