    My Son..."The Rocker"

Brandon and his band played at our park a few weekends ago. I thought I would post a few pics.

The band is "Negative Feedback" Brandon is lead singer and guitar, Kevin is bass and backup vocals and Larry is on drums. I think they are awesome! Of course I'm mom. I don't always like all of their songs but I do think they are very talented. They write their own music and lyrics. Brandon says he has the hardest time sleeping because their is music always running through his head and he will have to try it out on the guitar...lol.

My son, Brandon...ugh...the hair..hehehe..he usually wears it in a pony tail but when he plays he has to let it fly.

A rock star mom hu That's great that you think they're awesome.
Were they just rehearsing or is this at a gig?

    Awesome!!

My husband is a drummer, so I know all about the bands.
The band he was in a couple of years ago fizzled when everyone went their separate ways, but a few of them are back together now.
What kind of music do they do?

Anna..I guess you could say it was a gig. No money involved though. A few bands got together and rented out the shelter house to play one night. A small crowd showed up. I love watching them play.

Emily...I guess you would say Rock, maybe hard rock. I always say they are kind of a cross between Nirvana and Metallica. He hates when I compare their sound though. He says they have their own sound!...hehehe.

Recently they went to Nashville for a big music convention and they actually got a call from some music executives but you have to PAY a bunch of money up front to them for them to even handle you. The music business is so crazy and scary because you just don't know what you are getting into. Of course they don't have a bunch of money right now, so they are working on that and trying to get gigs and just play all that they can. The also get called in to help out at a local recording workshop that has classes for students to learn how to record music and stuff and they use Brandon's band to help them do that. Also they played at a battle of the bands. There were about 38 bands I think that applied and only 8 made it in and they made it. They didn't win though They had their pictures in the paper and posters posted around town and they also had an interview in the paper. I thought that was pretty cool. You can bet I saved that paper!

What I really like is that they are just a really nice group of guys and best friends and I hope it stays that way. They were just here a bit ago laughing and carrying on.

Thats so cool! I love music, but am "musically challenged" - which means I can't even hum in tune! I've always been jealous of people who can sing and play an instrument... or even one of the two! I hope he has good luck and gets some of the right people interested soon.

HOW COOOL!!!! I'm in a band too! My friend and cousin and I just started one back in December/January. I've been practicing hard and I've made up a couple songs. All we need is lyrics, a lil more practice, and we'll have gigs too!

I'm lead guitar/backup singer, my cousin plays the bass, and my friend sings (she has an amazing voice). For now my computer plays the drums (I attached a pic of my guitar) Your son's and Kevin's guitars are soooo cool!!! Awesome pics!!! Does their band have any recordings yet? CD's or anything?

I know the music business can be scary. After my husband left the first band, they signed with someone, and it turned out to be not what they expected at all. Instead of their originals, and the music they liked to play, the management wanted them to rap and play some really bad places. These poor guys were on the road all the time, and not really enjoying it at all.

Now it's my husband on drums, his cousin on lead guitar and vocals, a wonderful sax player, a bass player they just found a few weeks ago, and another member from their old band just moved back to play guitar with them. They're doing a few shows a week, and having fun, and that's what is important!!

My mother in law loves to come out and go watch them play too!!!

Neat! I love your son's hair.

I'd love to hear them play... especially if you compare them to Nirvana.

    Great pictures, Robin.

Thanks for all the nice compliments.

Yes, they do have a cd and I'll see if Brandon will let me put a song on here. If I can do that. He'll probably have to help me.

You like that long hair, Kay? I kind of like it too, especially now that I'm use to it..hehehe. He actually has nice hair and it is longer then mine! You should see his senior pic. Its nice and short and I think he looks like a model...lol. I don't know if you would think he was the same person if I put up now and then shots...lol....Of course his beautiful blue eyes give it away. My grandma hadn't seen him for awhile and she LOVED his long hair and went on and on about how handsome he was. I thought for sure she would throw a fit about his hair...lol. Boy, grandma sure can fool me sometimes.

He hates when I compare their sound though. He says they have their own sound!
That, combined with all you have written about him and his band leads me to know that he has music in his soul. My very best wishes go out to him and the rest of the boys.

p.s. I love his long hair too!

Ok, Brandon gave me permission to put a few songs on here. I'm not for sure how to do it. I'll just try it as an attachment.

Let me know what you think. Be honest! It will not hurt my feelings. I'm always curious what people think. It is hard for me to judge being mom and all.
